Some of you perhaps never done a factory reset on Android device before, and now we will tell you on how to factory reset Android device manually or via settings menu. There are many reason why we should factory reset Android device, for example it could be because of our device keep crashing, running very slow or maybe you just want to clear all of your third party apps and available accounts because you want to sell your Android device.

A factory reset will wipe all of your data and return it to factory settings, meaning that you will have your Android device filled with apps and settings just like what you got at the first time you bought the device. That’s why it is recommended to backup everything, though Google and Samsung can get all your data back, a second precaution is still needed. However, you won’t be able to factory reset your data if you already upgraded to the new OS version or maybe you have installed developer ROMs. In order to factory reset, you have to go back to original stock ROM.

Factory Reset Your Android Device step 1

The first way to factory reset your Android device is via Settings, here are the steps :

1. Go to Settings
2. Then go to Personal > Backup and Reset
3. Enter your password or PIN (if requested)
4. Back up my data checked (Optional)
5. Make sure Automatic Restore is checked
6. Tap on Factory Data Reset > Reset Phone
Again, you might be prompted for your password or PIN here
7. Tap Delete Everything
8. Choose Reboot

That’s all, you should wait your device rebooting for a minute or couple of minutes before you see a brand new factory settings. Then you can continue to restore your backed-up data.

Factory Reset Your Android Device step 2

But, sometime you are unable to go to Settings menu, maybe because of touchscreen not responding or your device is just dead freeze. Don’t worry, you can try this steps to manually factory reset your device.

1. Turn your device off
2. Press and hold Volume Down and Power while the device turns itself on
3. When you see the options screen, use Volume Down to move down and highlight Recovery Mode
4. Press the Power button to confirm your selection
5. Wait for the image of the “sad Android”, then hold down Power. Keep it held and press and release the Volume Up button.
6. Once again, use the Volume Down button to navigate. This time choose Wipe Data / Factory Reset. Use Power to confirm the selection.
7. Use Volume Down to highlight the Yes — Delete All User Data option. Use Power to confirm.
8. Wait for seconds and then choose Reboot to restart your device.
