“Unfortunately App Has Stopped” – The Cause and How to Fix

Android device is not an all mighty device. Sure, everything has it’s own merit but if you are using an android device then sometimes you will be having the “Unfortunately App Has been Stopped” problem in your life. Sure it is not that big of a deal problem, but what if you are doing some work stuff with an app and forgot to save it.

This problem often arises with the contacts, gallery and launcher apps. The procedure to fix this is generally always the same.

  • First, navigate to Settings on your device.
  • Go to Applications > Application manager
  • Swipe left until you find the All tab.
  • Scroll down to the app that’s causing problems and tap on it.
  • Here you will find the Clear data and Clear cache options.

Clear cache is the option you should start with. It will get rid of saved data that allows apps to load a little quicker when you launch them. Clearing it means the app will open a little slower, but your main problem might well be solved.

Clear data will erase all the app’s data, including files, settings and accounts, so don’t use this unless you have to.

2. Update the app

Chances are, there are bugs in the app itself. Maybe the developer might already found it and fixed it. So try to fix the app by updating the app. That is why review is needed by all of you guys users. If you found a bug in an app, please help the developer and million other user that is using the same application.

3. Un Install and Re- Install the app

It is the best method to remove “Unfortunately, the app has stopped” error in Android. In this method first un-install the app which is causing error and then re-install it back. It might solve the error.

Sometimes newly installed apps don’t support the software or hardware of the device and thus they should be removed from the device to get rid of the errors caused by app itself.

4. Factory Reset

If none of the above methods worked, it is very rare if it happens. You can try Factory Reset on your device. It will erase all the data related to apps and all software updates. The device is back to its factory setting and now you can install all apps and they will be working well without any error.
