Swatch Prepares Its Smartwatch, Will Come in Three Months
Swatch, the historic Swiss watch manufacturer, has decided to have its say in the segment of smart watches, or more commonly smartwatch, going down the field with very interesting statements by the CEO Nick Hayek. In substance is declaring battle to Google, already in the trenches for a long time with the platform Android Wear available on various devices, and the bitten apple, which is expected to arrive in April of the Apple Watch. Who will be the winner?
If Swatch wanted to have the winning cards from her, should produce a device that can overcome the problems of the current smartwatch competition, primarily the factor autonomy (we know that last very little). And it is the autonomy that is underlined by CEO: according to her, Swatch will produce a device “that can access the Internet without needing to be recharged.”
Now, skeptical or not, there would be two ways to achieve this result: the first is an “automatic” wristwatch with a generator driven by the movement of a rotor that works thanks to the movement of the wrist; the second, instead, would consist in the use of “cell battery”, for an autonomy higher than lithium-ion battery.
Arrival date? Will coincide with that of Apple Watch or April. It will be possible to make payments and will be compatible with Windows Phone and Android, while no mention is made regarding the compatibility with Apple’s iOs, perhaps to an oversight of the CEO, or because it has been chosen not to support it. Summing up, the tables for a new object, specifically, are there: we hope that Swatch is able to confirm the great expectations.
The CEO of Swatch had recently spoke of his skepticism about watches smart, especially on Apple Watch: “will not be the next revolution,” he said as supporting the validity smartwatch of high-end devices of his company. Now Nick Hayek proves to be determined to carry on a real head to head with Apple in terms of the market for wearable intelligent.
How will the new line of smart watches Swatch is not yet clear, that if in the past the company had announced a watch able to connect to the Internet without needing to be recharged immediately after use of the network, to make payments (but for now only in some grocery stores in Switzerland). Hayek had also spoken to a number of patents obtained in the course of 2014 as part of his company, adding that many of these will be applied in new products coming this year. Among them there will be a battery to double the autonomy of the current ones but with the same dimensions, a critical component in the field of wearable that could completely change the scenario.
