Google wants all applications developed for Cardboard works well. Therefore, the internet giant made the project ‘Works with Google Cardboard’.
As reported by Engadget, this project allows the headset maker of virtual reality (VR) Google is able to ensure their design is compatible with applications created for the device.
Whether the material is made of metal, plastic or cardboard, material cutting techniques in any dimension, or how they are adjusting optics, for Google is not a problem. Importantly, they incorporate all the details to the website in order to get the QR code Cardboard to include their creations.
After that, they know other users can scan the QR code using Cardboard applications, and all applications are designed to be optimal for Cardboard users.
Those who make and sell their own Cardboard can also sign up to get a certification label, in recognition that their design is compatible with applications and games developed for these devices.
Talk about VR headsets, many technology enthusiasts will immediately thought of the Oculus Rift. Google also has its own VR headsets are much cheaper because it is made of cardboard. Users can even create his own VR.
If you want more significant updates than these, don’t worry — it looks like the company has big plans for the device. A team from the School of Engineering in Trinity College Dublin has just joined the Cardboard division, bringing their ambisonic surround sound technology with them. Google says it will use that technology to bring “immersive audio to VR” in the future.
