All New Android Wear Presented at The Google I / O
Today is the Google I / O event, the greatest event throughout the year by Android community and has much interesting news and some unexpected surprises. Unfortunately, as far Android Wear developments have been rather scarce, and it is quite clear that the commitment of Google the operating system for wearables is still timid, although the Apple Watch is already on the market.
The company show a timeline that showing the evolution of Android Wear since it was released in June 2014. Thus, we can remember some remarkable progress as native support for GPS, support for third-party watchfaces function to locate your phone and, reaching the month of May, all the new features introduced in Android Wear 5.1.
It is more than a presentation dedicated to show the news of the next generation of Android Wear. It seemed more a review of all the news of the latest software the 5.1 version. In fact, most of the little space for Android Wear during the event has focused on this review: gestural controls, recognizing emoji to draw on the screen, native access, among others.
So what’s up? Simply nothing. The only “news” that Google has given us is the arrival of new applications such as Uber, Foursquare or CityMapper. For example, Uber will be as simple as saying “Ok Google, call a car” and within minutes we have a driver under way. With CityMapper will get updated at all times on public transport in our city, notifying outputs bus stop or what we have to get off information.
Google announces new Android Wear Smartwatch at end of the year
Google has revealed that already have more than 4,000 applications for Android Wear and have argued that it is the best platform for developers. Surely by now the Apple Watch expect a similar figure, but with the small difference that the latter takes almost a month on the market.
Finally, the representative of Google on stage to be announced new Smartwatch with Android Wear at year end. A real pity that we have not seen any new model in the Google I / O as pointed to some rumors, especially the promising second-generation Moto 360. According to Google, there are 4,000 Android Wear apps out there on the Play Store after almost a year since launch. To put things into context, the Apple Watch had 3,500+ on launch day, and the list is growing like wildfire till this day.
