Aria Update: Control SmartWatch with Hand Gestures

Aria is a project that wants to let you control your smart watch without touching or talking. Today, interaction with the Smartwatch is still assuming a challenge because although the different companies try to present innovative methods to facilitate Smartwatch navigation, the truth is that there is still much room for improvement in this area and much less can we ensure that we found the “final” solution.

The main problem posed by interaction with a Smartwatch is that it forces us to have both hands full, because while a clock hold up, the other is used to interact with the screen. Is there any method that allows us to have both hands free? Yes there is, it is called Aria and its concept is so interesting that while changes our mind, I do not doubt that we can see something similar in future of Smartwatch.

Aria is a sort of clamp that colaca on the inside Smartwatch belt that recognizes the movements of your fingers and can control your device using gestures. As you can see in the video that we leave below, each finger gesture corresponds to a particular control on the Smartwatch, and move through a menu, select an object or click on it.

The most interesting thing is that Aria is multiplatform, that is, is ready to work with all market platforms: Android Wear, Pebble and even Apple Watch. The company wants to implement the project through a Kickstarter campaign financing. For now we know the price you have to Pebble Time ($ 69) and for Android Wear ($ 169), but nothing yet as to Apple Watch.

Aria comes with an application that we install in our Smartwatch and through it, we will configure the gestural controls, ie we can choose which gesture that corresponds to the action in the system. In addition, the version of Aria will be different depending on the platform, Android Wear will communicate with the system via Bluetooth, while the Pebble Time will connect directly to the clock.

As we read in the project page, Aria makers have also announced the release of an SDK for developers to deploy their applications. By the time the project has not yet reached Kickstarter, so its completion date is still uncertain. Do you think that such interactions are the future?
