For those that handle more than one email account in your day to receive messages directly on your wrist is a priceless comfort. In recent months I have met with several comments from people having problems setting up the account or email accounts in Apple Watch, specifically many of them complained that the reports did not reach him or that they came to us instantly as It happens to messages.
In this tutorial, we will learn to properly configure our different accounts Mail for Apple Watch, whether you’re using Hotmail, Gmail or any other platform. However, I believe that before entering matter is important to make a clarification on why depending on the type of service that we use emails, instantly appear or not.
The difference between Hotmail and Gmail: why one we receive them instantly and on the other we have to wait?
This clarification is essential to understand why Hotmail can receive instant notification on Apple Watch with the message that we just enter the Gmail mailbox and have to wait. This is because Hotmail supports push notifications, that is, the service is constantly checking for new mail, and each is detected automatically.
On the contrary, in Gmail we have the option to decide whether to get information manually (when we update our mailbox) or get it at certain intervals of time. If you select the latter option will automatically check for new mail every so often (15 min, 30 min, or 1 hour). Now that we know the difference between the two see how it is configured properly in Apple Watch Mail.
How to configure Apple Mail on Watch
By default, the Apple Watch use the same setup we have on our iPhone to notify the post. This means that if we setting all accounts in “Manual” no new mail will notify us unless we enter directly into the application. If we enter the app from Apple Watch for iPhone and headed to Mail, we will see that by default is marked “Duplicate iPhone”. However, if we have our own setup for Apple Watch we must dial in “Custom”. Let’s see how to configure it according to our service.
If using Hotmail:
- In the application of Apple Watch, go to Mail, select our Hotmail account and activate the “Mark alerts Hotmail” option.
- Now we go to Settings> Notifications> Mail and check “Enable notifications” if we had not. Also, make sure you that your Hotmail account also has enabled notifications.
- We return to Settings> Mail, Contacts > Get Data entered our Hotmail account and have two options: Push or Get. As I have explained before, if we select the Apple Push Watch will show automatically each time you enter a new message, whereas with Get it checked from time to time.
- If you have selected Get we can select the frequency with which we want new post (15 min, 30 min or 1 hour) check. This will save more of our iPhone battery with the Push option.
From now we begin to receive mail notifications on Apple Watch.
