Consumer interest in wearable devices such as smartwatch and fitness band are increasing. The more complex apps and feature making wearable device battery issues are becoming attractive. If the battery on smartphones and tablets can be increased drastically, it should be as well as that in smartwatch and fitness bands.
Samsung developed a super thin and flexible batteries for wearable. With these batteries, the developer says could realize creative ideas that were previously impossible.
Not long ago, Samsung, the electronic vendor devices from South Korea, launched two new battery products for wearable in the InterBattery 2015 event in Seoul. Both products are positioned to increase the battery life of the wearable devices. So users can spend more time using smartwatches and fitness bands. This is certainly not the breakthrough that easy, given the size and fitness smartwatch relatively small band.
Two types of magic batteries that is designed to make innovation in the wearable device variety called “Stripe” and “Band”, as reported frm HotHardware. Samsung claims Stripe compiled using sophisticated materials. Both the outer material and internal components.
Only 0.3 mm thick and rubbery texture. It can adjust to different forms of devices. Energy density, said Samsung, made higher than the other batteries on the market today, so, the durability life of the device can be improved.
To create a slim form, Samsung also said that they minimized the width of the sealing device to create a wearable battery energy density is higher than the existing battery.
Remarkably, Stripe battery is able to be bent and formed into various factors. It has the flexibility to be used in a variety of other types of wearable devices, such as necklaces, hairbands, accessories t-shirts, and anything that will be created in the future.
While other types of batteries on display by Samsung is designed specifically for use on smartwach. Samsung said the Band battery can increase capacity more than 50 percent. The Stripe and Band, both currently in the prototype category. Samsung did not mention when they are ready to release these products to be offered.
LG Electronics did not stay silent in the development of wearable device battery. LG Chem has developed a hexagonal-shaped batteries for smartwatch. The battery has a capacity of 25 per cent larger than the rectangular batteries are currently available.
LG is rumored to begin offering the new battery to the hardware manufacturers worldwide. LG Chem itself has teamed up with technology giant unnamed on the development of the hexagonal battery components.
