Tips Corner – How to Hide Your App and Get Your Privacy on Android

There are many reason to hide your app, but the main reason is that you don’t want anybody to do something with the app, either it is a game, application, or message. Maybe you want to file away some of those pre-installed apps so that you don’t have to look at them. Either way, you can hide apps on your Android device, though you may need a special app in order to do so.

Step 1 : You could check if your phone could hide apps without downloading any  third party app

Some manufacturers include the ability to hide apps as part of their custom launchers, but this practice is becoming less common. For example, older Samsung Galaxy devices came with the ability to hide apps. How to do:

• Open your app drawer by tapping the grid button on your home screen.
• Tap the Menu button (⋮) in the upper-right corner, or press your device’s physical Menu button.
• Tap “Hide apps” or “Hide/unhide apps.”
• Check the boxes next to the apps that you want to hide, then tap “Done.”

Step 2 : Use a Launcher to hide app

The easiest way to hide an app is to simply remove it from your app drawer. This is a common feature in most home screen replacement launchers. You can still use the Google Search bar to launch your app, but people won’t be able to find it in your drawer. How:

1. Download Nova Launcher
2. Long-press on the home screen
3. Select Settings
4. Select App & widget drawers
5. Scroll down to Hide apps
6. Check all the apps to hide from the drawer

Step 3 : Hiding Pre-Installed app by Turning it off

If you have apps that came pre-installed on your device that you don’t use, you can disable them to hide them from view. How : 

• Open the Settings app.
• Open the “Apps” or “Applications” section.
• Tap the app you want to hide.
• Tap the “Disable” button.
• Find your disabled apps in the Disabled section.
