Schulte Table Review: Best Practice to Improve Your Speed Reading

Schulte table is a classical and efficient way to improve speed reading

This app is a simple Schulte table. Schulte table is a classical and efficient way to improve speed reading.

The developer explained that one of the most important instrument of speed reading is peripheral vision. Well developed side vision allows you to see and clearly perceive few words or even row. So, it definitely help you to perceive information quickly and your speed reading will be growth.

For your information, schulte table is a grid with randomly distributed numbers or letters to develop speed reading, peripheral vision, attention and visual perception.

Tap 1 to 25 in 5 x 5 table

Unfortunately, the app doesn’t give enough explanation about itself. The first time you open it, you will find 25 numbers on 5 x 5 table. There are 1 to 25 in random order. You need to tap on 1. If you tap on the correct number, then, the order will change. You need to tap the next number, 2. It will change again, so on until you tap on the last number, 25.

You need to find all the numbers with your peripheral vision

The first time, I need more than 1 minute to tap on those numbers. I found out that when you search on those numbers, you are not supposed to move your eyes. You need to find all the numbers with your peripheral vision. So, look at the middle of the table and try to find where the next number. Hence, I got better result (faster time).

However, it isn’t clear whether my time is fast enough or not. The app doesn’t show the average time of its users. Instead, it repeat to the beginning after it show my result time.

Classical Table, Literal Table, and Black with Red Table

It has three modes, Classical Table, Literal Table, and Black with Red Table. The Classical Table is a mode where you need to find the sequence numbers. In Literal table, instead of numbers, there will be alphabets. The Black with Red Table mode also use numbers. However, you will see red and black boxes instead of whites.

Multicolor, shuffle on the touch, untouchable mode, sound and vibration on the touch options

It has other options as well. You can find its options on Settings.
You could enable or disable multicolor, shuffle on the touch, untouchable mode, sound and vibration on the touch.
I used less time if I disable the shuffle on the touch. The default is enable. So, every time you tap on correct number/letter, the table will change. Likewise, if you disable it, the table doesn’t change when you touch the correct number/letter.

In contrast, I used more time if I disable the untouchable mode. Disable it is the default, anyway. If it is enabled, you can touch FOUND (you will find it in the bottom screen) when you found the correct number or letter. Thus, it requires less time.

Furthermore, it has wide range of grid sizes available. The default is 5 x 5. However, you can choose to use from 3 x 3 grid to 10 x 10 grid.
