Photomath: Camera Calculator App to Learn Step by Step of Math Problem

Help you to solve mathematics problem

Photomath is an application to help you calculate mathematics problems. For your information, the app use real-time machine vision technology that is developed by Microblink. It allows you to input your question via your camera. So, you don’t have to type your math problem if it’s already in the written form.

2 modes available

There are 2 modes available to use. You can input your questions by using your phone’s camera. The other option is by input the mathematics problem by keyboard on it.

Recognize math problem by pointing your camera

It is easy to use the camera. You just need to point your camera to the math problem. Make sure that the whole question is in the transparent box. You could resize the box so it is not too big or too small for your math problem.

Then, it will scan the math problem. You don’t even need to capture the picture. The app will copy your question on the transparent box to the white box. Please make sure that the question in the white box is the same question on the transparent box. Then, you can see your result appear immediately. You will find it on the red box on your app. Moreover, you can have the step by step instructions too.

You will like that it could recognize handwriting too. Just keep in mind to write neatly so the app could read it properly. You wouldn’t want the app recognize your 7 as a 1. Hence, it would give incorrect answer.

Furthermore, if it’s not focus, it will not recognize your question correctly. Thus, it also give you the wrong result. So, please make sure that the scanning is right and the question that Photomath get is the same as your question.

Input your question by typing it in the keyboard

The other option is to input your question by typing it in the keyboard. Even though it is less handy than using the camera to take the question, it is preferable in some cases.

You can input your math problem with the keyboard. The keyboard has some number and operands. You can add, substract, multiply, and divide. Tap on the […] button to open more operands. Here, we find that the app can solve trigonometry question as well. Also, you can even solve calculus problems with this app.

You can dissolve the keyboard by tap on the keyboard icon in the upper left corner of your keyboard. Then, tap on the white background, it’s where you put your question, to make your keyboard reappear.

Step by step instructions

The step by step instructions do not appear immediately after you get your result. Therefore, you need to tap on the three lines icon on the red box to open it. The Solving Steps are available in both modes.

You will find that there are some different kind of result based on your math problem. It could be calculate the sum difference, calculate the approximate value, simplify the expression, and more.

Report back

Nevertheless, this app is not without flaw. You may find that it has wrong solution. When you see that flaw, you should report it. You can report it by opening the Solving Steps and tap on the Report solution.

See your previous questions

Furthermore, you can see your previous questions too. Just shift to the right. There are up to 10 previous questions with their answers available to see. You can removed your history by tap on Clear history. Also, you can shift your current question to the left. Photomath will give you a new page to type your question.

If you need more explanation about this app, you can open Help & Feedback section. However, you need to keep in mind that you shouldn’t rely on the app too much.
