4 New Android O Features – Google Promise A Fluid Experiences
At the Google I/O 2017 event, a number of Android O capabilities were revealed. Google promises all of the newest features will deliver a seamless experience called Fluid Experiences.
The newest feature are Picture in Picture, Notification Dots, Autofill and Smart Text Selection.
Picture in Picture
Picture Mode lets users open new other apps, while still watching YouTube or Netflix. For example, when you watching YouTube, tap the Home button and the video will appear in a small window. So we can navigate to other apps without having to leave the YouTube app.
Notification Dots
Notification Dots is a small dot that will appear above the app icon. This point will only appear when we have unread notifications.
Tap and hold this point, and will appear a quick preview shaped like speech bubbles.
Autofill Passwords
This feature was previously in Chrome. Now Google brings it to the Android O. For example, if Chrome has saved a Twitter or Facebook password, the autofill password will automatically fill it out when you will log-in to social media. So no need to trouble with typing password.
Smart Text Selection
This functions will make you easier to copy paste by applying on the device machine learning.
For example, when we see an address, you no longer need to copy it by blocking words per word. Google will recognize the phrase and context of the post and immediately block it word for word to be copied and pasted. Smart Text Selection will also suggest maps, address posts, or suggest phone access when viewing phone numbers.
The beta version of Android O is now released. The devices that can try include Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel C, Pixel and Pixel XL.
