Earlier this month, Microsoft said that they are going to shut down the service of its own Cortana App for both iOS and Android in January. The news is first released by Microsoft on the official website. The software maker himself has posted a new support article for Cortana users that said the app for both platforms is going to disappear in the market on January 31st.
However, that doesn’t mean that Cortana won’t be available anymore. Because Microsoft said in an interview with The Verge that Cortana is an integral part of their broader vision to bring power of conversational computing and productivity to all their platforms and device.
Because of that to make it more helpful as possible, they are going to be integrating Cortana deeper into your Microsoft 365 productivity apps as part of evolution involves in ending support for Cortana mobile app on both android and iOS.
As part of that, most of the features in Cortana such as alarm or notification won’t be available in the mobile device nor Microsoft launcher. However, Cortana can still be accessed in windows PC.
Microsoft originally launched Cortana for iOS and Android back in 2016 and was originally designed to connect Windows 10 PCs with mobile devices. However, they failed to compete with other digital assistant that is available on the phone much earlier like Siri and many others.
