People that are using Android phones currently on hype, because Google not too long ago decided to release an Android version of iMessage. It is based on a wireless standard called RCS or Rich Communication Services and is supposed to replace SMS text shortly, and you can use it already. Just, with a little bit of tweak in it.

First, what you need to know, is RCS supported by your carrier or not? If it is supported then you are in luck, and you will only need to do some steps to get it working which is in U.S., UK, and France, and on supported carriers in other countries like Canada.

However, if not, then you will need to work in some more effort. So without further ado, here are the tips on how to enable RCS Android:

IF YOU ARE SUPPORTED SEE THESE STEPS BELOW :

  1. Download the Google Messages app in Google Play
  2. Afterward, open the Google Messages app
  3. Tap the three dots in the upper right corner on the app and then tap the setting
  4. Tap Chat Feature
  5. Enter the phone number that you are using
  6. Tap Continue

Afterward, Google Message will start verifying your phone number and much like what you will see on the image above, and once it is completed your status should change from “Setting up” to “Connected” with a green font. But if your carrier is not supported, then you must follow the step below.

IF YOU ARE NOT SUPPORTED SEE THESE STEPS BELOW :

  1. Enroll in Messages Beta and install
  2. Download Activity Launcher
  3. Clear the data of ‘Carrier Services’ and force stop ‘Android Messages.’ Edit: If you don’t have ‘Carrier Services’ you can download it from the Play Store
  4. Open Activity Launcher
  5. Tap ‘Recent Activities,’ and on the menu choose ‘All Activities.’
  6. Look for ‘Messages’
  7. Tap it, then scroll until you find ‘Set RCS Flags’
  8. After pressing it select ‘ACS Url”‘ and in the menu select ‘http://rcs-acs-prod-us.sandbox.google.com/.’
  9. Select OTP Pattern, and in the menu click, YourlsMessenger\sverification\scode\sis\sG-(\d {6}). Edit: This appears to not be staying for some. It didn’t stick for me either but my RCS still activated
  10. Click Apply Edit: sometimes clicking apply won’t take you anywhere. Just go back and check messages
  11. Open your Google Message and you will see notification below to update your RCS
  12. And check it on settings to check if your phone is connected to RCS.
  13. Congrats it is connected

So far, it should only take some minutes for it to be done and ready to go, but the RCS feature is not fun without anyone to use it on. So why not share these tips above for your friends so that you can connect while you are at it. It should be easier now right since you have done it once. Anyway, with RCS people can send high-quality photos, read receipts, and had a quick real-time delivery message. So anyway, thank you for reading these tips hopefully it can give you some help that you need, happy messaging!
