AMD Newest Graphic Card Radeon RX 7900 GRE Announced!

AMD has made waves in the tech world with the announcement of its latest desktop graphics card, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE (Golden Rabbit Edition). Initially revealed in China, this powerful GPU is set to make its mark globally, bringing advanced graphics capabilities to enthusiasts and gamers alike.

The Radeon RX 7900 GRE is a trimmed-down variant of the RX 7900 XT, featuring minor reductions to the GPU and more substantial cuts to the memory. Compared to the 84 compute units in the RX 7900 XT, the RX 7900 GRE has 80 compute units. The game clock also sees a slight reduction, from 2000MHz to 1880MHz.

One of the most significant changes lies in the memory department. The RX 7900 GRE features 16GB of 18Gbps memory with a 256-bit bus, providing a memory bandwidth of 576GB/s. This is down from the RX 7900 XT’s 20GB of 20Gbps memory and 320-bit bus, which offered an impressive 800GB/s memory bandwidth.

A 1440p Performer and Competitive Pricing

AMD positions the Radeon RX 7900 GRE as a powerful graphics card suited for 1440p gaming, rather than targeting the 4K market. The company’s marketing materials even draw a direct comparison between the RX 7900 GRE and the 6800 XT, indicating similar performance to NVIDIA’s RTX 4070.

Priced at 5299 RMB in China (approximately $649 USD), the Radeon RX 7900 GRE offers competitive pricing for the performance it brings to the table. It will be available from renowned brands like PowerColor, Sapphire, and XFX, alongside a reference model from AMD.

Although the RX 7900 GRE has already been launched in China on July 28, there’s yet to be an official announcement regarding its global release and whether it will retain the same name. As tech enthusiasts eagerly await its worldwide availability, the Radeon RX 7900 GRE promises to deliver impressive graphics capabilities and a heightened gaming experience to users worldwide.
