Meta AI Integration will Make A New Era for WhatsApp
Rather than developing a standalone app for Meta AI Conversation or chatbot, Meta has opted to integrate Meta AI into the search bar of the social media app WhatsApp. This allows users to start typing in the search bar to get answers from the chatbot. The introduction of this feature first appeared in WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.7.14 and is expected to be available to all users in a forthcoming update.
Meta AI: A Brief Overview
Meta AI is an artificial intelligence laboratory that is part of Meta Platforms Inc. (formerly known as Facebook, Inc.). Meta AI’s primary focus is on developing various forms of artificial intelligence, as well as advancing augmented reality and virtual reality technologies. Unlike Facebook’s Applied Machine Learning (AML) team, which focuses on the practical application of its products, Meta AI is an academic research laboratory oriented towards generating knowledge for the AI community.
Initially known as Facebook Artificial Intelligence Research (FAIR), Meta AI has locations at the Menlo Park headquarters in California, as well as headquarters in London, England, and a new lab in Manhattan.

In collaboration with NYU’s Center for Data Science, FAIR was established with the primary goal of conducting research in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to understand the essence of intelligence, discover its fundamental principles, and develop machines to significantly enhance intelligence.
Research at FAIR has resulted in significant technological advancements, such as facial recognition, photo tagging, and personalized feed recommendations. Vladimir Vapnik, a prominent figure in the field of statistical learning, joined FAIR in 2014. Vapnik is known as one of the creators of support-vector machines and the developer of the Vapnik-Chervonenkis theory, which forms the basis of many aspects of machine learning.
It remains to be seen whether the implementation of Meta AI in the WhatsApp application will have a positive impact on users or go unused altogether. We await the next update until this feature can be used by all users. Stay tuned for further developments!
