Mojang Studios has been hard at work tweaking the upcoming mace weapon set to debut in Minecraft 1.21 Tricky Trials update. Recently, adjustments were made to address concerns about the mace’s overpowering capabilities, with changes rolled out in both Java and Bedrock snapshot and preview versions.

All Minecraft 1.21 Tricky Trials Mace Changes in The Newest Update

1. Damage Reduction:

In response to player feedback, the base damage of the mace has been reduced in the latest Bedrock Preview version 1.21.0.24. Previously standing at seven health points (three and a half hearts), the mace’s base damage has been lowered to five health points (two and a half hearts). This adjustment places the mace below the power level of a standard diamond sword.

2. Smash Attack Mechanic:

Additionally, Mojang Studios refined the mace’s smash attack mechanic to introduce a fall-off as the number of falling blocks increases. Damage per block now varies as follows:

  • The first three blocks yield four health points (two hearts) of damage per block.
  • The next five blocks result in two health points (one heart) of damage per block.
  • Any subsequent blocks contribute only one health point (half a heart) of damage.

3. Durability Boost:

To balance the reduction in damage, the durability of the mace has been doubled from 250 to 500 in the latest preview. This increased durability can further be enhanced through unbreaking enchantments.

4. Enchantment Adjustments:

In addition to modifying the base mace, Mojang Studios made changes to its exclusive enchantments. The density enchantment now adds only 0.5 health points (quarter of a heart) of damage per fallen block, down from its previous value of one health point (half a heart). Furthermore, the density and breach enchantments are now incompatible with each other to prevent excessively lethal combinations.

5. Crafting the Mace:

For those eager to wield the mace in Minecraft 1.21, it can be crafted using a breeze rod and a heavy core. Breeze rods are dropped by the new breeze mob, while heavy cores have a chance to be found in ominous trial vaults.

With these adjustments, Mojang Studios aims to ensure a balanced and engaging gameplay experience for all players in the upcoming Tricky Trials update. Keep an eye out for the mace and other exciting additions arriving soon in Minecraft 1.21!
