Xiaomi is set to make waves with the upcoming release of the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro, the first smartphones to utilize Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. Although the official launch is anticipated in October, rumors and spec leaks from China have already started surfacing. Let’s delve into the details.
Xiaomi 15 Specifications
The Xiaomi 15 is expected to feature a 6.36-inch “1.5K” touchscreen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 1,400-nit brightness in High Brightness Mode. It will come with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The device will be powered by a 4,800-4,900 mAh battery, supporting 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.
In terms of durability, the Xiaomi 15 will have an IP68 certification, ensuring protection against dust and water. The rear camera setup includes three 50 MP cameras: a 1/1.31″ main sensor (OmniVision OV50H), an ultrawide lens, and a 3x zoom lens (both using Samsung’s ISOCELL JN1 sensor). The front camera will boast a 32 MP resolution.
Xiaomi 15 Pro Device Specifications
The Xiaomi 15 Pro will share many similarities with the Xiaomi 15, including IP68 certification, the same 32 MP front camera, and identical maximum RAM and storage configurations. However, it will sport a larger 6.73-inch “2K” screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 1,400-nit brightness in High Brightness Mode. The Pro model will house a 5,400 mAh battery, supporting 120W wired and 80W wireless charging.
The Pro’s camera system will feature a 50 MP OmniVision OV50N sensor for the main camera (1/1.3″ with an f/1.4 aperture), a 50 MP Samsung JN1 sensor for the ultrawide lens, and a 50 MP sensor for the 3x optical zoom periscope telephoto.
Pricing
The Xiaomi 15 is expected to start at CNY 4,599 ($632) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, going up to CNY 5,499 ($756) for the 16GB/1TB version. The Xiaomi 15 Pro will start at CNY 5,299-5,499 ($728-756) and can reach up to CNY 6,299-6,499 ($866-894) for the highest RAM/storage configuration.
