Black Myth: Wukong offers players a deep, engaging experience with a variety of weapons, but one stands out for its sheer power and early availability: the Golden Loong Staff. This weapon not only boosts your damage significantly but also summons a thunder dragon during heavy hits, making it one of the most sought-after weapons in the game. Here’s how to get this incredible weapon as early as possible.

The Quest Line for the Golden Loong Staff

To acquire the Golden Loong Staff, you’ll need to complete a specific quest line that involves defeating a series of dragon bosses and gathering special materials. This journey begins as early as Chapter 1 and culminates in Chapter 4, where you’ll unlock one of the most powerful weapons in the game.

Step 1: Obtain the Loong Scale

Your first objective is to acquire the Loong Scale, an item necessary to unlock the bosses you’ll need to defeat. Head to Chapter 2: Yellow Wind Ridge, specifically the Valley of Despair. In this area, explore the nearby caves where you’ll encounter the first boss, the Red Prince. Defeating him will reveal a secret area with a chest containing the Loong Scale.

Step 2: Defeat the Red Loong in Chapter 1

With the Loong Scale in hand, return to Chapter 1 and locate the Forest Waypoint. Follow the route to a nearby waterfall where you’ll have the option to dispel the barrier and enter a cave. Inside, you’ll fight the Red Loong. Defeating this dragon will reward you with the first crafting material and the blueprint for the Loongwreathe Staff, an essential item for upgrading to the mythical version later.

Step 3: Battle the Black Loong in Chapter 2

Next, head back to Chapter 2 and make your way to Yellow Sand Ridge at the Rock Rest Flat. There’s another waterfall here, behind which lies the Black Loong. This fight is slightly more challenging, but defeating this dragon provides you with the second component needed to craft the Epic Loongwreathe Staff.

Step 4: Confront the Canan Loong in Chapter 3

Progressing to Chapter 3, visit the New West Turtle Island Keeper Shrine. On the right side of the shrine, at the cliff’s edge, you’ll unlock the final dragon boss for this quest line—the Canan Loong. This boss is more formidable than the previous two, featuring a variety of aerial attacks. Be prepared to dodge and use shock resistance if possible. Once defeated, you’ll obtain the Mountain Shaking Claw and the recipe to craft the Golden Loong Staff.

Step 5: The Final Battle with Yellow Loong in Chapter 4

The final step in your journey takes you to Chapter 4 at the Webbed Hollows in a location called the Relief of the Fallen Loong. To reach this area, start at the Cliff of Oblivion and navigate through the passageways until you arrive at a cave system. Inside, you’ll find the Yellow Loong—the toughest boss in this quest line. Defeating him not only provides the final materials for the Golden Loong Staff but also unlocks additional powerful abilities, such as the Lightning Dance and Fatal Shadow.

Once you’ve crafted the Golden Loong Staff, you’ll gain access to one of the most powerful weapons in Black Myth: Wukong. This staff excels in Pillar Stance moves, especially Sweeping Gale and Turning Gale, which deal massive damage. Additionally, the staff’s unique ability to summon a thunder dragon during heavy attacks (with three or four Focus Points) debuffs enemies with thunder, increasing the damage they take.
