Hololive EN Vtuber Job Experience Before Being a Virtual Idol

1. Mumei – Waitress

Before joining Hololive English, Mumei worked as a waitress, a role that introduced her to the demanding world of customer service. Initially hired for part-time, day shifts, she soon found herself working irregular night shifts and full-time hours.

This shift in schedule was challenging, leading her to work late into the night and frequently switch shifts, which tested her adaptability and perseverance. Her mom finally got enough, and then told her to get the schedule change.

2. Kirara & Nerissa – Hotel Staff

Before joining Hololive English, both Kirara and Nerissa worked in the hotel industry, which provided them with a wealth of experience and valuable skills. Nerissa worked as a front desk receptionist, handling calls and managing various guest requests. This training involved a mix of classroom education and hands-on work experience, which equipped her with a broad range of skills applicable to hotel operations.

Similarly, Kirara also worked in a hotel environment, though her experience differed somewhat. She dealt with high-pressure situations involving demanding guests and high standards, which helped her develop strong problem-solving skills.

Despite the challenges, including working in a smaller hotel where she had to handle multiple roles—ranging from reception to room cleaning—Nerissa found the experience rewarding. Both Kirara and Nerissa’s hotel backgrounds illustrate how their previous roles in customer service and hotel management have shaped their professional skills, enhancing their ability to handle diverse and demanding situations in their current roles as VTubers.

3. Ame Watson – Retail Store Worker

Ame’s experience working in retail, specifically at a holiday-themed store, reveals several challenges she faced in her early job. One notable incident involved her iPod Nano being stolen by a coworker. When Ame reported the theft to her boss, she was advised to contact the police, but this solution left her feeling unsupported.

Frustrated by the lack of action and her dissatisfaction with the job, Ame chose to stop attending work without notifying her employer, an approach that led to further conflict when her coworker reminded her of the importance of proper communication in the workplace.

Additionally, Ame struggled with the demands of the job, such as being required to maintain a cheerful demeanor despite her lack of enthusiasm for the position. Her desire to switch roles from the cash register to stocking shelves was denied, and she felt uncomfortable handling cash transactions.

4. Kroni – Customer Service

Although she doesn’t give us more experience regarding its service time, Kroni had work as a customer service, and based on its demeanor, implied that it is not a fun experience.

5. Gawr Gura – House Sitting

During one house-sitting gig, Gura encountered a particularly unusual and frustrating situation. Early one morning, she received a call from the family she was watching over, asking her to handle a clogged toilet.

Despite instructing them on where to find the plunger, the family insisted that she come and fix the problem herself. Gura, bemused by the audacity of the request, felt that the task was something they should be able to manage on their own.

6. Cali – Waitress

Mori Calliope’s time as a waitress was marked by challenging experiences and a few memorable incidents. While she noted that the staff at her workplace tried their best to be accommodating, the customers were often difficult, making her job particularly tough.

One notable episode involved a dramatic altercation where her manager ended up in a fistfight with a customer who had thrown tequila in Calliope’s face. This intense situation, while not ideal, became a standout moment in her service career, highlighting the extreme lengths to which she and her colleagues had to go to handle difficult customers.

Before becoming beloved members of Hololive English, each VTuber brought unique and varied professional experiences to the table, enriching their roles as virtual idols making them more relateable for us.
