In the vast world of Elin, one unique and engaging mechanic that players can explore is the system of Faith and Worship. Whether you are a seasoned player or a newcomer, understanding this mechanic can significantly enhance your experience. Faith allows you to connect with various gods, each offering different blessings that align with different playstyles. This guide will break down how to worship gods, what benefits you can expect, and the best strategies for progressing through the Faith system.

The first step in exploring the Faith system is finding an altar. Altars can be found scattered across the world map, sometimes appearing randomly in dungeons or other locations. However, for those who want a more reliable source of altars, a designated area called Truce Ground offers multiple altars where you can begin your worship.

To start worshipping a god, approach the altar and select the option to worship. Upon doing so, you will instantly receive blessings from the god associated with that altar. The effects of this worship vary depending on which god you choose, and while worshipping is not required for success in the game, it offers substantial benefits that can enhance your character’s abilities.

The Different Gods and Their Blessings

Elin offers a variety of gods, each with unique attributes and blessings. Here are some of the gods you can worship:

  1. Mani of Machine
  2. Ehekthl of Luck
  3. Opatos of Earth
  4. Itzpalt of Element
  5. Lulwy of Wind
  6. Jure of Healing

Each god also has specific preferences when it comes to offerings. Offering the right items increases your piety, which in turn improves the benefits you receive from the god.

Leveling Up Your Faith and Gaining Rewards

Faith can be leveled up by regularly offering items at altars, praying, and performing other acts of devotion. As your Faith level increases, you unlock additional blessings. At level 15, you receive a companion follower from your god, and at level 30, you unlock a powerful artifact, such as a unique weapon that provides a significant boost to your abilities.

One efficient way to level up your Faith is by using the Model Follower feat. This passive ability allows you to automatically increase your Faith each day without needing to perform manual tasks. Additionally, by offering specific items, such as seeds for Kori, you can speed up the process of increasing your piety.

Divine Punishments and Consequences

It’s not all smooth sailing when worshipping the gods. If you change your faith too quickly or break any divine rules, you may receive a divine punishment.

For example, after changing my faith from the Catgirl god to another deity, I was struck down and cursed with an iron ball—a humorous yet somewhat painful penalty.

However, even curses can be beneficial in certain circumstances, such as using the weight of the iron ball to train strength and weightlifting early in the game.

If you are struck by divine punishment, it’s important to wait for the curse to dissipate before attempting to worship another god, as switching gods too quickly can lead to being struck down repeatedly.

How to Bring Gods Altar to Your Base

An interesting feature in Elin is the ability to bring altars back to your base. While you can’t take altars from the Truce Grounds, you can bring other altars you find across the world to your home.

This allows you to perform regular worship and increase your Faith without needing to travel constantly. The altars have varying weights, so be sure to check that your base can support the altar before transporting it.

In addition to this, offering items on your altar at your base allows you to bless your items. For example, blessed water can be used to cleanse cursed items, or snowballs can be transformed into useful potions. This adds another layer of functionality to the Faith system, allowing players to customize their gameplay.
