If you’re just diving into Azure Latch and feeling a little overwhelmed, you’re not alone. The game doesn’t explain much, and with how fast-paced and skill-driven it is, it can be easy to get lost. But don’t worry—this guide will walk you through the basics and share key techniques so you can hold your own on the field and maybe even carry your team. Also check out our Azure Latch Codes & Tier List if you are new to the game!

Basic Controls You Need to Know

The game doesn’t show you the controls, but knowing them is essential to perform well:

  • E – Dribble: Makes you temporarily immune to slide tackles. Use this when opponents are swarming.

  • Q – Slide Tackle: Great for defense. You can’t use this while holding the ball, but you can kick the ball forward and then slide to recover it quickly.

  • F – Dash: Offers quick bursts of speed. You can combine Dash and Slide to cover huge distances.

  • Side Dashes: Dash left or right to dodge or change your angle for shots or passes.

Understanding the speed difference between holding and not holding the ball is important. When you’re dribbling, you’re slower—so you should constantly kick the ball forward and chase it to stay mobile.

How to Outsmart Defenders

If your dribble is on cooldown, there’s another trick: kick the ball into the air. Most players don’t expect this. When the ball is airborne, it becomes harder for defenders to intercept. After kicking it up, Dash to its location for a sneaky retrieval. Also, try to combine Dashes and slides to reposition quickly. You can string these moves together to break through defensive lines or recover loose balls.

Goalkeeper Mechanics & How to Score

The goalkeeper AI in Azure Latch is predictable:

  • They pass the ball straight down the middle of their side. If you’re aware of this, run to the center when the ball reaches the keeper to intercept.

  • To score past them, don’t shoot straight when you’re directly in front. Instead, charge a shot (hold left click), then dash left or right while releasing the ball. This throws the keeper off.

There’s also a hidden mechanic: holding the D key while shooting curves the ball right. This is great for bending shots around defenders or passing with style. The A key does not add curve.

Use the Camera to Your Advantage (Metavision)

One crucial tip for PC players: scroll your camera out for better awareness. You’ll get a wider view of the field and can better predict threats and openings. This kind of positioning is key for both defense and offense. If you see your teammate struggling, stick close—you can snatch the ball as soon as they get tackled and take your chance.

Positioning is Everything

Because of the game’s speed, no area on the field is out of reach. Good positioning can make the difference between winning and losing. Stay behind defenders or rush in from the sides. It’s hard for players to keep track of flanking runs, especially with how quickly characters move.

Always think ahead and stay near less experienced teammates—they’re more likely to lose the ball, giving you a chance to recover it and counterattack.

Understanding and Using Ultimates

Ultimates are one-time-use abilities per match, so save them for clutch moments. Here are some tips:

  • Isagi: Always use his third move before the fourth, as the fourth ends the ultimate. His movement is top-tier, and his shots are high percentage.

  • Shido: Use a light tap shot, look far up, then activate the ability. His move is a backward bicycle kick, so aim carefully.

  • Nagi: His first move lets him control the ball mid-air—use it when intercepting airborne passes or shots.

  • Sai: You must be in front of an opponent to activate his ultimate.

Isagi stands out as one of the best characters due to his mobility and versatility, even if he’s not considered a rare.

Shooting Tips

When you shoot, don’t trust the crosshair completely. Shots usually fall short. Instead, aim higher than your target. This keeps the ball from rolling across the floor and losing speed. The higher you aim, the less the ball will drag.

Azure Latch is fast, intense, and takes time to master. Don’t get discouraged if you struggle early on—most players do. Focus on improving your control, mastering movement, and understanding positioning. Once you get the basics down, you’ll start pulling off impressive plays with confidence. If you’re looking to improve even faster, watch your replays, study how experienced players move, and most importantly—keep practicing.
