The first anniversary of Wuthering Waves was expected to be a major event, but instead, it’s turned into one of the most talked-about controversies in the community especially after the employees leaks their info. Right after the anniversary livestream, players quickly shared their disappointment online, pointing out how underwhelming the rewards felt. Many fans were hoping for more, especially from a game that has been growing in popularity.

One of the biggest complaints was the lack of a free five-star character or skin, something many players assumed would be part of the celebration. Instead, the anniversary rewards felt similar to what players usually get in a regular update.

Another issue was the anniversary banner, which still uses the standard 50/50 system. Many hoped it would be fully selectable or at least offer better odds. On top of that, the flight system is still not available in all regions, adding to the list of frustrations.

Expectations were high this year, partly because of leaks suggesting that the rewards would be more generous. Some compared it to the third anniversary of Punishing: Gray Raven (PGR), where players received a free five-star character, free skins, and better gacha rates.

In the past, Wuthering Waves did hand out free five-stars and large amounts of asterite, often as bug compensation or appreciation after winning awards. This time, however, the response didn’t live up to what many were used to.

After the backlash, the developers opened special feedback sections on Discord and Reddit to gather player opinions. They also responded by giving out a few extra pulls as a small form of compensation. While this move helped a little, many still feel the anniversary could have been handled better. Fans are now watching closely to see if future updates will offer something more meaningful.
