8 New Things Blood Moon Update Grow a Garden Roblox Guide

The latest Blood Moon Update in Grow a Garden adds a bunch of exciting content that completely shakes up how you farm, manage pets, and collect rare items. From new crops and pets to special events and cosmetic crates, here’s a full breakdown of what’s been added and how everything works.

1. New Free Pet: Chicken Jockey (Zombie Chicken)

When the Blood Moon Update goes live, players get a free Chicken Jockey pet. This undead chicken has two strong passive skills:

  • Every 29 minutes, there’s a 20.40% chance nearby fruits become zombified
  • Increases egg hatch speed by 10.20%

It’s one of the first things you’ll get in the update, so don’t miss out.

2. Updated Inventory System

Managing your items is now easier thanks to a redesigned inventory layout. The new categories include:

  • All Items
  • Seeds
  • Roots
  • Gears
  • Pets

Bonus feature: If you search for an item (e.g. “Night Staff”), it remembers your search even after closing the inventory. Great for when you’re placing multiple items in a row like sprinklers or staffs.

3. Blood Moon Crops & Shop

New Crops:

  • Moon Melon
  • Blood Banana

These are exclusive to the Blood Moon event, which appears every 3 hours. During this event, a special Blood Moon Shop opens.

Bloodlit Variants: Some fruits and crops glow with a red tint. These are called Bloodlit Fruits and they appear during the Blood Moon. Als check out how to get Bloodlit mutation in Grow a Garden.

4. Mysterious Crates (Cosmetic Tease)

Inside the Blood Moon Shop, you’ll also find Mysterious Crates. You can place them on your farm, but you can’t move or open them yet. These are part of the Cosmetic Update launching next week, so it’s best to save them for later. Check how to get & use Mysterious Crates in Grow a Garden!

5. New Gear: Starcaller Staff

The Starcaller is a new staff that works similarly to the lightning rod:

  • Place it near your crops
  • During Starfall Events, it increases the chance of stars landing on those crops

This helps you unlock Starfall Mutations, though not many players have seen them yet.

6. Exclusive Egg & Blood Pets

During the Blood Moon, the shop offers an exclusive egg containing several new pets. Additionally, some pets can be bought individually with in-game cash.

Pets from the Blood Moon Egg:

  • Red Giant Ant – 5.13% chance crops duplicate + bonus for fruit crops
  • Fox – Every ~10 minutes, steals a random crop’s seed from another player and gives it to you
  • Brown Mouse – Grants bonus XP and +10.12% jump height
  • Squirrel – 2.53% chance to not consume seeds when planting

Pets sold directly in the shop:

  • Blood Kiwi
  • Blood Hedgehog – Grants size and variant bonus to prickly fruits
  • Blood Owl – Boosts XP gain for all active pets

Check out how well each pets and animal is in our Grow a Garden tier list!

7. New Rarity: Prismatic Crops

There’s now a new rarity called Prismatic, shown at the bottom of the seed shop. It’s extremely rare, and so far it hasn’t spawned naturally for many players. If you want to buy it early, it costs 715 Robux. One confirmed example is the Beanstalk, which you can grow with help from sprinklers and watering cans. Here’s how to get Beanstalk in Grow a Garden.

8. Missing Gear Postponed?

One gear item planned for the update seems to be temporarily removed or postponed. The developers haven’t announced whether it’ll appear in the cosmetic update or later, so we’ll need to wait and see. The Gear is called Harvest Tool that is coming to the game.

The Blood Moon Update brings much-needed variety to Grow a Garden, with a smart mix of new crops, powerful pets, and mystery content that builds up to future updates. Whether you’re grinding for prismatic seeds or just enjoying the new pet passives, there’s plenty here to keep you busy. Just don’t forget — those mysterious crates aren’t usable yet, so be careful where you place them.
