Yixuan stands out as one of the most interesting agents in Zenless Zone Zero version 2.0. With a unique playstyle and high damage output, She’s a great choice for players who want to explore a different combat mechanic. This guide covers Yixuan’s skills, mechanics, skill rotation, builds, and best team comps so you can get the most out of him. Also check out Zenless Zone Zero Pan Yihui guide and ZZZ Hugo Guide!

Yixuan’s Skills and Mechanics

Yixuan is a Rupture class agent with the Oric Ink element. Her main strength is dealing Sheer Force damage—a unique damage type that ignores enemy defense. Unlike normal attacks that scale with basic ATK, Yixuan’s damage is based on Sheer Force. Sheer Force is calculated from:

  • 30% of Yixuan’s ATK converted into Sheer Force
  • Plus 10% of Her Max HP added to Sheer Force

Oric Ink is a special resource gained after using Ultimate 2, boosting Yixuan’s dodge attacks.

Adrenaline is similar to energy but regenerates steadily at 2 points per second, with a max of 120. It’s used to activate skills, especially Her Ultimate 2.

Technique Points come from spending Adrenaline and are required to use Ultimate 2, Yixuan’s main damage skill.

How to Play and Skill Rotation

Yixuan demands precise timing, particularly when using EX Special 1 (Ink Manifestation) to parry. This skill costs 40 Adrenaline. Successfully parrying gives back 10 Adrenaline plus bonus damage. A solid rotation looks like this:

  1. Use EX Special 1 to parry and gain bonus Adrenaline and damage.
  2. Follow up with two additional attacks, each costing 20 Adrenaline, totaling 60 Adrenaline for max damage.
  3. Use Ultimate 2 (Endless Talisman Suppression) as your main skill. It deals heavy damage, redistributes team HP, and grants Oric Ink Points for stronger dodge attacks.
  4. Use Ultimate 1 as a backup if Technique Points aren’t fully charged.

Best Build and W-Engine Setup

Favorite Drive Sets:

  • 4pc Yunkui Tales: +10% HP, +12% Crit Rate, +10% Sheer Damage — the best build for Yixuan.
  • 4pc Woodpecker Electro: +15% Ether Damage — a decent temporary option.
  • 2pc Branch and Blade / Woodpecker: flexible combo for ATK and Ether Damage.

Main Stats Priority:

  • Slot 4: Crit DMG (if using the Signature W-Engine) or Crit Rate
  • Slot 5: Ether Damage%
  • Slot 6: HP% (preferred) or ATK% if substats are better

Substat Priority:

Crit > HP% > ATK% > Flat HP > Flat ATK

Recommended W-Engines

  • Qingming Bird Cage (Signature): +20% Crit Rate, +16% Ether DMG, +20% Sheer DMG — the strongest option, boosting performance about 33% over free W-Engines.
  • Puzzle Sphere (Craftable): +12% DMG, +24% DMG after Ultimate — best free-to-play choice.
  • Steel Cushion / Marcato Desire: decent Crit substats, but passive doesn’t activate, so more of a backup option.

Best Team for Yixuan Zenless Zone Zero

Core Team Setup:

  • Yixuan (Main DPS)
  • Pan Yinhu (Support for Sheer Damage boost and healing)
  • Fast stunners like Caesar (best pick), Trigger, Lucy, or Qingyi

Alternative Supports:

  • Astra Yao (ATK buff but less ideal for Yixuan)
  • Nicole (buffs that help despite less effective DEF shred)

Focus on upgrading the Signature W-Engine first. Then work on M1 for quality of life improvements, M2 for damage boosts, and finally M6 for max potential. With M6, Yixuan’s damage can double compared to having no upgrades.

Yixuan is perfect for players who enjoy high-skill, high-reward DPS characters with unique mechanics. Her defense-ignoring damage shines if you master parrying and skill timing. Combining him with Pan Yinhu and a quick stunner makes for a powerful team.

If you want a character with a fresh playstyle and strong damage, Yixuan is a must-try. But if you prefer simpler gameplay with less resource management, She might not be the best fit. What do you think about Yixuan? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
