The upcoming Roblox event “The Hatch,” which was supposed to bring back the excitement of Egg Hunts, might already be off track before it even begins. While many players were hoping for a fun and creative event, the recent leaks and responses from developers paint a very different picture. From game developers pulling out to the actual egg-collecting mechanics being heavily criticized, this might not be the event fans were waiting for. Also check out The Hatch Event Guide Roblox.

What’s Going On With “The Hatch” Egg Hunt?

Based on recent leaks and dev emails, “The Hatch” event requires players to use a special hub to teleport into participating games. Unlike past egg hunts that had missions or challenges, this one will just drop eggs in random games. All players need to do is join, wait a few minutes for the egg to spawn, collect it, and leave.

There’s no real gameplay or puzzle involved. Many are comparing it to earlier Egg Hunts like the 2010 or 2016 versions, where players simply camped at a location until an egg appeared. Some developers say this ruins the point of an egg hunt, as there’s no fun or effort involved.

To make matters worse, the eggs will drop randomly for each player, and you can get duplicates. That means you might have to enter several games just to find a new egg. Roblox reportedly wants to include up to 1,000 games in this event, though it’s unclear how many will actually make it in, especially since some devs are quitting. Devs say the tasks they were asked to do were too basic, like just placing an egg in their game lobby.

“The Hatch” could have been a chance for Roblox to bring back one of its most beloved traditions. Instead, early signs suggest it might end up being one of the most disappointing events yet. With random egg drops, little gameplay, and developers backing out, the hype is fading fast. While we’ll still have to wait and see how the full event plays out from July 2 to July 12, it might be a good idea to manage your expectations.
