All Hostile Mobs 99 Nights in the Forest Guide

In 99 Nights in the Forest, survival depends heavily on how well you handle hostile mobs lurking in the wilderness. These enemies will attack you on sight, and defeating them rewards you with valuable food and special items essential for progression. This guide covers all the hostile mobs you’ll encounter, their behavior, and what you can gain from them. Also check out our 99 Nights in The Forest Friendly Mobs, and 99 Nights in The Forest Equipment Guide.

1. Wolves

Wolves are the first hostile mobs you’ll face. They attack and chase players for a short distance. When defeated, they drop:

  • 2 small pieces of meat
  • 1 steak
  • Chance to drop Wolf Pelt, which can be traded with the Pelt Trader for better gear.

Wolves are relatively easy to handle early on but still require caution.

2. Alpha Wolves

Stronger and tougher than normal wolves, Alpha Wolves have more health and glowing red eyes, making them easier to spot. They attack aggressively and chase players similarly. When defeated, they drop:

  • 3 small pieces of meat
  • 1 steak
  • Chance to drop Alpha Wolf Pelt for trading.

Prepare for a tougher fight than regular wolves.

3. Bears

Bears are among the most dangerous animal mobs, second only to the Deer Monster. They guard the two final caves where the last missing children are trapped. Bears deal heavy damage and chase players relentlessly. Their drops include:

  • 4 small pieces of meat
  • 2 steaks
  • Chance to drop Bear Pelt, valuable for trading.

Make sure you’re well equipped before taking on bears.

4. Cultists

The only hostile human NPCs, Cultists attack your camp roughly every three nights. There are two types:

  • Black Robe Cultists wielding axes or spears
  • Red Robe Cultists using crossbows

Cultists drop the Cultist Gem, a rare item needed for high-tier crafting at the Crafting Bench.

5. Deer Monster

The Deer Monster is the game’s main enemy. It attacks only at night and is immune to damage from regular weapons. The only way to fend it off is by shining a flashlight on it, which stuns the monster temporarily. Avoid direct confrontation—keep your flashlight ready to survive the night.

Always carry weapons and healing items when exploring. Prioritize upgrading your gear with pelts traded from defeated mobs. Use flashlight strategically to keep the Deer Monster at bay during nighttime. Team up with other players for tougher enemies like bears and cultists. Understanding these hostile mobs and their weaknesses is key to surviving all 99 nights. Stay alert, stay prepared, and you’ll make it through the forest’s dangers in 99 Nights in The Forest.
