Alignment in Rogueblox shapes much of your gameplay experience, from which classes you can unlock to the areas you can explore and the gear you can obtain. It divides players into two main factions: Orderly and Chaotic. Unlike a typical good vs. evil system, this alignment focuses on lawful versus unlawful actions and has unique effects on your character’s progression.

What Is Alignment?

  • Orderly: Represents lawful behavior. Players who follow rules, respect authority, or act within established systems tend to gain Orderly alignment.
  • Chaotic: Represents unlawful or rebellious behavior. Players who break rules, act against authority, or engage in criminal activities lean toward Chaotic alignment.

This isn’t about good or bad — some lawful actions may be morally questionable (like supporting slavery), and some unlawful actions might seem good from a player’s perspective.

How Alignment Affects Gameplay

  • Class Restrictions: Certain classes require specific alignments for your super and ultra class. For example, some players start as Orderly and switch to Chaotic or vice versa.
  • Access to Areas: Some barriers or zones in the game only allow passage depending on your alignment.
  • Equipment Availability: Helmets like the Orderly Helmet or Chaotic Helmet are locked behind alignment choices. Helping or killing certain NPCs can softlock you out of obtaining the opposing helmet.
  • Interactions and Quests: Certain quests and NPC reactions depend on your current alignment.

Alignment Progression Levels

Each alignment has tiers reflecting your standing:

Orderly:

  • Lawful (Base)
  • Orderly (Super Class Level)
  • Imperial (Ultra Class Level)

Chaotic:

  • Disorderly (Base)
  • Chaotic (Super Class Level)
  • Anarchic (Ultra Class Level)

Fallen and Repented Alignments

Some class combinations require mixed alignment paths:

  • Fallen: Started as Orderly but ended as Chaotic for the ultra class.
  • Repented: Started as Chaotic but switched to Orderly for the ultra class.

These combinations don’t have official in-game names but affect your character’s story and abilities.

How to Gain Alignment Points

Your actions determine alignment. Completing quests, interacting with NPCs, and player behavior add or subtract points toward Orderly or Chaotic. Here’s a summary of key actions:

Action Alignment Change Notes
Gripping a player +3 Chaotic
Gripping a player with Rhitta’s knife +X Orderly Requires specific weapon
Gripping a lurker +0.5 Chaotic
Gripping a lurker with Rhitta’s knife +1 Orderly

Jailing a player +X Orderly Rewards +20 Silver

Important Notes

  • Softlocks: Helping or harming certain NPCs like Bob locks you out of the opposing helmet. Choose carefully depending on which alignment helmet or class you want.
  • Barriers: Orderly players can pass through orderly barriers, but chaotic players are knocked back.
  • Balance Your Actions: To unlock specific classes or items, align your gameplay to either side consistently.

Alignment in Rogueblox is a complex but essential system that goes beyond simple good vs. evil. Your choices influence progression paths, equipment, and access throughout the game world. Whether you lean toward law and order or rebellion and chaos, understanding how your actions affect alignment will help you unlock the classes and gear best suited to your playstyle. Choose your path carefully, as some decisions cannot be undone!
