Since the global release of Umamusume: Pretty Derby, players have eagerly awaited content from the Japanese version. One of the most anticipated additions is the Support Card for Kitasan Black, a game-changing card many have saved up for. This guide will explain why Kitasan Black is so highly regarded, how to get her, and whether you should invest your resources in pulling for her.

How to Get Kitasan Black in Umamusume

Kitasan Black was introduced in a limited spotlight banner running from July 16th to August 1st, 2025 (UTC). During this period, the card has an increased scout rate, making it easier to pull. After this event, Kitasan Black may appear in future Support Card banners, but there’s no set date for that yet.

Kitasan Black Support Card Effects

At maximum level (50), Kitasan Black stands out as one of the strongest Speed Support Cards available. Speed is a crucial stat for many characters, making this card highly versatile and useful in most training runs. However, Kitasan Black’s full potential unlocks only after reaching level 45, where her Specialty Priority stat activates.

This stat greatly increases the chance that the card’s training events appear more often, which is vital for improving your character efficiently. Kitasan Black also grants skills that restore endurance and boost Speed during straights and corners, helping your character maintain top performance in races. Key stats at level 50:

  • Training Effectiveness: 10%
  • Specialty Priority: 80% (unlocks at level 45)
  • Friendship Bonus: 25%
  • Initial Friendship Gauge: 35%
  • Race Bonus: 5%
  • Fan Bonus: 15%
  • Mood Effect: 30%
  • Hint Frequency: 30%
  • Hint Levels: Level 2

Notable skills unlocked: Corner Recovery, Straightaway Recovery, Extra Tank, Focus, and more.

How to Pull Successfully for Kitasan Black

Pulling for Kitasan Black requires a significant amount of Carats, especially if you want to fully uncap her to level 50. To maximize your chances:

  • Complete missions that reward large amounts of Carats.
  • Enter and rank high in Team Trials, which reset weekly and offer up to 1,500 Carats for early promotions.
  • Focus on the two-week banner window to roll as you accumulate Carats.

Keep in mind, unless you have saved extensively, pulling five copies for maximum limit break (MLB) may require purchasing Carats with real money. If you decide to buy, prioritize limited Carat packs, which offer the best value.

Odds example at 0.75% uprate:

  • 50 pulls: 26% chance of 0 limit break (LB) copy
  • 100 pulls: 36% chance of 0 LB
  • 400 pulls: 58% chance of MLB (5 copies)
  • 600 pulls: 94% chance of MLB

Approximately 400 pulls (around 60,000 Carats) give a 50% chance to get five copies.

Should You Pull for Kitasan Black?

If you have enough Carats and are committed to raising Kitasan Black to max level, pulling is worthwhile. However, at lower levels (before 45), Kitasan Black performs about the same as many other Speed Support Cards, like King Halo (SR). Therefore, if you’re unsure about fully uncapping her, consider borrowing a max-level Kitasan Black Support Card from other players instead.

Kitasan Black is a top-tier Support Card in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, but her strength is unlocked only at higher levels. If you can commit to saving or spending enough Carats, she’s definitely worth pulling for. Otherwise, focus on other Speed Support Cards or borrow Kitasan Black from friends until you’re ready.
