What’s New in Update 29?
- Exotic Treasure Chest Rarity Added
The treasure chest lineup now includes Exotic rarity chests, alongside Mythic and Secret units. Players can find three new units spread across these rarities to boost their arsenal. - Introducing Pets
Pets are the biggest highlight of this update. There are 9 new pets to collect, each providing valuable buffs to your towers and overall gameplay. - Pet Crates and Collecting Pets
Gary the Snail has opened a pet shop near Mrs. Puff’s Boating School. You can buy pet crates for 500 gems each to get random pets. Pets vary in rarity from rare to limited edition, and some come as shiny variants called “Shiny Wombo,” which offer much stronger boosts. - Endless Mode Bug
The game currently has an issue where Endless mode isn’t tracking waves correctly. The developers are working on a fix, but in the meantime, players can rely on unit strength ratings for performance.
How Pets Work and Why They Matter

Pets add a new strategic layer to SpongeBob Tower Defense by providing buffs to your entire loadout:
- Buff Types Pets boost damage, reduce cooldowns, increase range, and even improve gold earnings.
- Leveling and Upgrading Pets can be leveled up to 50, fused to 5 stars, and leveled further to 100. The higher the level and star rating, the stronger the buffs become.
- Loadout Buffs Stack You can equip up to three different pets at once, and their buffs stack to significantly enhance your towers.
- Shiny Pets Shiny versions provide a massive boost over the regular ones.

Additional Pet Features and Tips
- Pets visually follow you in the lobby to show off your collection.
- You can feed pets any type of food, including unit food, to level them up faster.
- Pets can be traded or gifted, adding a social and trading aspect to the game.
- You cannot equip multiples of the same pet at once (e.g., no three Potty the Parrots).
New Code to Redeem
- ShowMeExotic – Redeem this code for 25 Mythic Treasure Chests.
More codes will be released throughout the weekend, so keep an eye out.
The introduction of pets completely changes the way you approach SpongeBob Tower Defense. With a variety of pets offering buffs across different stats, players can customize their strategies like never before. The ability to stack multiple pets’ buffs and the powerful unit boosts make pets a crucial part of progression.
New players should start saving gems to unlock pets and prepare to upgrade them consistently. Meanwhile, the new units and exotic treasure chests add fresh excitement for veteran players.
