How to Get Firefly Grow a Garden The Rarest Pet in The Game!
In Grow a Garden, players spend hours collecting pets, evolving crops, and stacking up profits. But out of everything in the game, one pet stands above the rest—not because of its power, but because of how nearly impossible it is to obtain. That pet is the Firefly, and it currently holds the title of the rarest pet in the entire game.
While you may have seen it mentioned here or there, most players have never even encountered it in-game. This guide breaks down everything we currently know about the Firefly: what it does, why it’s important, and most importantly—how you can get it (if you’re lucky). What Makes the Firefly So Rare?
The Firefly was likely added during the “Bee Update,” alongside other pets like the Disco Bee and Tarantula Hawk. However, unlike those pets, the Firefly wasn’t included in the main release. Instead, it remained hidden—only accessible through very specific conditions.
What’s unique about the Firefly is its passive ability: every 79 seconds, it has a 3% chance to apply the shocked mutation to one of your crops. This mutation increases the crop’s value by 100x, making it one of the best boosts in the game.
Previously, the shocked mutation was only possible during thunderstorms or with the help of lightning rods. The Firefly, however, doesn’t require weather events, making it a valuable tool for generating high profits anytime.
How To Get the Firefly Pet

Here’s the catch: the Firefly is not available in the main game. To get one, you must join a testing server. This is only possible in two ways:
- Become a Permanent Tester – These roles are not open to public application. Usually, testers are handpicked by the developers (like Jandel) and are responsible for checking new content before updates go live.
- Join a Public Testing Session – Occasionally, Grow a Garden will open its testing server to the public. These sessions are rare and fill up quickly, so you’ll have to be fast and lucky to join. If you manage to enter one, you might be able to claim the Firefly, as simply joining a testing server seems to be the only requirement.
There’s one major downside: the Firefly doesn’t exist in the live game. That means even if you earn it in a test server, you won’t be able to use it in the main version. Still, there’s hope. The Firefly is fully coded and visible in the game files, so it could be added in a future update—possibly as a reward for testers or a rare pet drop in a future event.
The Firefly is Grow a Garden’s most elusive pet, with incredible passive abilities and limited access. For now, only testers have a shot at owning it—and even that comes with no guarantee of use outside test servers.
But based on previous patterns in the game, there’s a good chance we’ll see it added more broadly later on. If that happens, it could quickly become one of the most sought-after pets in the game thanks to its ability to trigger shocked crops without needing a thunderstorm.
Until then, the Firefly remains a hidden gem, locked behind closed doors and available only to a lucky few. Keep your eye out for future testing sessions—and maybe one day, it’ll land in your garden too.
