How to Get Mega Mutation Pet in Grow a Garden Guide
If you’ve been diving into Grow a Garden lately, chances are you’ve come across players showing off giant pets that tower over everything else. These are pets with the Mega Mutation, one of the rare and powerful pet upgrades introduced in the Pet Mutation Update on July 22, 2025.
While many players are focused on getting the more common Shiny or Windy pets, Mega Mutation stands out for its massive appearance and improved performance. In this guide, we’ll focus on everything you need to know about unlocking Mega Mutation – including how the system works, the odds, and what makes Mega pets worth chasing. How to Get Mega Mutation in Grow a Garden

To unlock a Mega Mutation, you’ll need to go through the Pet Mutation Station, which is located next to the Pet Eggs stall. But before you head there, there are a few things to prepare:
- Pet Age Requirement: Only pets that are at least age 50 can be mutated. If your pet hasn’t reached that yet, you’ll need to age it up using Small Treats, Medium Treats, Levelup Lollipops, or by using pets like Capybara, Sea Turtle, and others that boost pet XP gain.
- Currency Requirement: You’ll also need 500,000,000 Sheckles to perform a mutation. Once your pet is equipped and aged, walk up to the mutation station, interact, and confirm your choice. Keep in mind this will reset the pet’s age to 1, and the mutation will be random.
- Time: The process takes 1 hour to finish. If you’re in a hurry, you can speed it up for 49 Robux.
The Mega Mutation has a 6.43% chance of being selected. Once complete, your pet will grow gigantic, gain XP per second, but also consume food 20% faster. It’s a fair trade-off for the added power and visual appeal.
What Are Pet Mutations in Grow a Garden?
The mutation system in Grow a Garden is a late-game feature meant for experienced players who want to power up their existing pets. Once a pet reaches level 50, it becomes eligible to enter the mutation machine, which assigns one of several possible mutations.
Each mutation comes with its own unique bonus. Some, like Shiny or Inverted, improve XP gains, while others like Frozen or Windy influence your fruit collection. Mega pets are unique for their sheer size and extra XP per second, making them popular among grinders. Mutations are one per pet, and if you try to mutate a pet again, its previous mutation will be replaced. So think carefully before re-rolling.
If you’re aiming to create the ultimate pet in Grow a Garden, the Mega Mutation is a fun and functional choice. While not the rarest mutation out there (that title goes to Ascended at 0.32%), Mega offers a nice balance between appearance and performance. Make sure your pet is well-fed, aged up, and your pockets are full of Sheckles before attempting the mutation. With a bit of luck and prep, you might just end up with a giant companion that dominates your garden.
