Apocrypha might still be in beta, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to do. In fact, players can already level up, unlock new classes, and gather gear by playing the available game modes and exploring certain areas. Whether you’re new to the game or just trying to figure out how to progress more efficiently, this guide covers everything you need to know.

Apocrypha, What You Do Early Game?

Once you’ve created your character, you’ll start on the Flying Airship, which acts as the main hub or lobby of the game and see many NpC to access modes and progress into the game.

The first thing you should do is talk to Nero, who is standing near the ship’s wheel that will send you to the Sunken Bastille, which serves as the tutorial dungeon. Clear it to receive your first weapon and armor, then return to the Flying Airship. After finishing the tutorial:

  • Go to Captain’s Quarters behind the Captain NPC.
  • Open the chests to collect some Lunari and useful items.
  • Talk to Fenwick to complete a quick quest and get your first spell book.

Then, visit Beowulf at the back of the airship to buy new weapons and gear using the Lunari you just picked up.

How to Unlock Arena?

Next up is unlocking Arena Battles. You’ll need to find Ronan and challenge him to a 1v1 battle. Once you defeat him, you’ll unlock access to the Arena modes:

  • 1v1
  • 2v2
  • Free-for-all (FFA)

Winning these matches rewards you with Arena Vouchers, which are crucial for unlocking new content.

How to Progress in Apocrypha

1. Play Arena Matches

Arena matches are your main way to earn vouchers and class unlocks:

  • Arena Vouchers and buy Lockboxes Noir.
  • You can find Class Artifacts, gear, and enchantments by opening Lockboxes.
  • Class Artifacts to Noir, for new class and new abilities.

This is your main method for unlocking new combat styles and strengthening your character.

2. Join Battle Royale Matches

Battle Royale is the second main mode for progression:

  • Win Battle Royales to earn Emblems.

Spend Emblems with Giles (in the Captain’s Quarters) to unlock new areas:

  • Empyrean Embassy: A market where players can trade items. (Free access)
  • Test Environment: Try out different weapons and abilities. (Costs 5 Emblems)
  • Old World: A larger, open-world area for exploration. (Costs 2 Emblems)

Battle Royales also reward Royal Tokens, which function similarly to Arena Vouchers. You can use them at Noir to get more Lockboxes or other useful items.

Even in its early stages, Apocrypha offers solid progression for players willing to dive into Arena and Battle Royale modes. Focus on earning Vouchers and Emblems, unlock new classes, and upgrade your gear. Once you’ve got your hands on better weapons and spells, you’ll be ready for whatever updates the game brings next.
