The latest Type Soul rework introduced some significant nerfs across all races, and naturally, players are wondering how these changes affect the overall meta. Whether you’re a returning player after the wipe or just diving into the re-release, this guide breaks down the nerfs and ranks each race from worst to best — based on current viability, power scaling, and general effectiveness in PvP. Also check out our Type Soul Codes and Type Soul Shikai Tier List.

5. Quincy – Bottom Tier (Major Nerfs)

Quincy players took one of the heaviest hits in the latest update, and for good reason. Before the patch, Quincy builds were overloaded with advantages: cybernetics, Letzt Stil, True Blood, Kendo posture, self-healing, and more. It created an overpowered, tanky, high-damage archetype with almost no weaknesses.

Nerf Details:

  • You can no longer use Letzt Stil and Cybernetics together.
  • If you pick Letzt Stil, you lose access to cybernetics.
  • If you go cybernetics, you lose access to Letzt Stil.

Why They’re Ranked Last:

Quincies relied on the synergy between Letzt Stil’s power and the flexibility of cybernetics to dominate. Removing that synergy stripped their biggest advantage. Now, their builds are significantly more limited, making them far less oppressive and more predictable.

4. Fullbringer – Still Mid, Still Balanced

Fullbringers didn’t receive a major direct nerf, but they’re currently one of the least dominant races in the game — simply because others either offer more utility or stronger damage potential.

Where They Stand:

  • Their progression system is relatively easy (meditation + NPC fight).
  • They have good versatility but lack raw power compared to Arrancar or Soul Reaper.
  • Their ZXC form skills are useful but not game-changing.

Why They’re Above Quincy:

They’re more consistent and user-friendly post-wipe, especially for newer players looking for a simpler route to progression. However, their long-term PvP viability remains average.

3. Soul Reaper – Balanced but Mysterious Nerfs

Soul Reapers are in a weird spot right now. There hasn’t been a clearly documented nerf like with Quincies or Arrancars, but something definitely feels off. Players are noticing inconsistencies in damage or lack of survivability until Visored is unlocked.

What We Know:

  • The Visored damage buff remains one of their biggest assets.
  • Without Visored, Soul Reapers feel underwhelming early on.
  • Elemental abilities still offer strong build variety, and some weapons (katana, scythe, greatsword) remain viable.

Why They’re Middle-Tier:

They haven’t been nerfed into the ground, but they’re no longer dominant either. Until more is known about the potential hidden changes, they sit comfortably in the middle: balanced, not broken.

2. Arrancar – Heavy Nerf but Still Strong

Arrancars arguably took the harshest nerf in this patch — particularly to their Partial Core system, which used to let you access your full Resurrection move set early. Not anymore.

Nerf Details:

  • Partial Core now gives you only ONE Res move after completing the obby.
  • That move now has a cooldown, and it can only be refreshed by landing a Cero Oscuras.
  • Cero Oscuras is slow, and if you’re not running a speed build, good luck landing it.

Why They’re Still High Tier:

Despite the nerf, Arrancars remain powerful due to:

  • High burst potential.
  • Solid offensive pressure with Res and Kendo builds.
  • Strong synergy with speed and hybrid builds.

The nerfs hurt, especially for lower-tier players or those who relied on Partial Core for easy access to strong skills — but top-tier Arrancar players can still dominate if they play smart.

1. Soul Reaper (Kendo/Speed Hybrid) – Best Overall

Yes, technically they were already mentioned — but when it comes to performance at the top level, Soul Reapers using Kendo or Speed hybrid builds are currently dominating.

Why They’re S+ Tier with These Builds:

  • Speed offers unmatched mobility, fast execution, and easy damage.
  • Kendo gives powerful combos and consistent posture damage.
  • Hybrid builds (e.g., 40 Speed/25 Kendo or vice versa) offer the best of both worlds.
  • Soul Resonance variants are still extremely strong — especially if mastered.

Note:

While the base Soul Reaper race may feel mid without Visored, those who optimize their skill trees and invest into the right builds can outperform most other races in high-skill PvP.

Tier List Type Soul Re Release:

  1. Soul Reaper (Speed/Kendo Hybrid) – Best Build Versatility, Top Meta
  2. Arrancar – Still deadly in the right hands despite the nerf
  3. Soul Reaper (Base) – Balanced but needs Visored to shine
  4. Fullbringer – Simple, effective, but lacking high-end potential
  5. Quincy – Overloaded kits finally cut down; worst race post-patch

Type Soul’s latest rework did a great job addressing overpowered race/build combinations, especially in the case of Quincies. The race meta is now more balanced, rewarding skill and build creativity rather than just stacking buffs.

However, Speed and Kendo remain dominant across most races due to their flexibility and power. If you’re trying to climb or want the best shot at PvP dominance, consider builds that incorporate either of those trees.

Expect more updates in the coming weeks — especially around Soul Reaper’s supposed “hidden nerf” and how the Fullbringer or Medic reworks evolve. Until then, play smart, adapt fast, and good luck surviving the new Type Soul meta.
