The Kitchen Storm update is just around the corner in Grow a Garden!, and it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest expansions yet. This update will build on the existing cooking system and bring in more rewards, new items, seeds, pets, and even potential new pet mutations.
If you want to stay ahead of the curve and not fall behind other players, here are the 10 things you should absolutely do before the update drops. Also check out our Grow a Garden Codes rewards for more redeemable!
1. Grind Food Like Crazy
This update is an expansion of the cooking event, and food remains the most important resource. Whether it’s regular food, prismatic food, or big food — stockpile as much as you can now. With new mechanics coming that give more rewards for food, the more you have, the better your position. Don’t skip out on using sprinklers and watering cans to speed up food production.
2. Level Up Your Pets for Future Mutations
If you have rare or exotic pets like Raccoon or Kitsu, consider getting them to level 50. There’s a good chance new mutations will be introduced, and you’ll want to be ready. If your pet already has a top-tier mutation like Ascendant, you can skip this. But if it has weaker mutations, hold off on rerolling until you see what the new update offers.
3. Get the Limited Pets from the Gourmet Egg
While the gourmet seed pack isn’t amazing, the pets from the event are actually worth grinding for. In particular, Mochi Mouse is great for XP farming and levels up fast, especially when paired with pets like Blood Owl or Capiyara. You can also use high-level pets to trade or unlock more slots, so don’t overlook them.
4. Avoid Trading for Now
There’s a serious issue going on with duped (duplicated) items, and many players have been banned from trading because of it. If you receive a duplicated pet/item in a trade, you could lose access to trading permanently. Until the devs clean up the system, only trade with trusted friends or avoid it entirely.
5. Make and Use Alt Accounts Wisely
If your inventory is getting full, consider creating alternate accounts to store excess pets or plants. This clears space on your main without deleting anything. But don’t go overboard — making too many alt accounts too quickly can get flagged as spam by Roblox. Stick to one alt per week max.
6. Stock Up on Sprinklers and Watering Cans
Sprinklers are key to producing bigger food, which gives more points. Don’t forget to prepare watering cans too — they help you grow plants faster, which is especially useful if new food items get added. These tools will be critical when testing out the new update’s mechanics.
7. Do NOT Trade New Pets Yet
Some of the new pets, like the French Fry Ferret, will most likely skyrocket in value once the event ends. If you have them now, don’t rush to sell or trade them. Hold on for about a week after the event ends — that’s when prices are likely to spike.
8. Don’t Harvest High-Value Crops Yet
If you’ve been using sprinklers and have crops worth millions, hold off on harvesting. There’s almost always an admin event right before an update that boosts rewards or adds new mutations. Waiting can lead to better profits once the admin event kicks in.
9. Log In One Hour Before the Update Drops
Admin events usually start 1 hour before the actual update. Just being in the game during this time can give you free pets, items, or special mutations. You don’t need to do anything — just join and stay AFK if needed.
10. Don’t Rush When the Update Releases
When a big update like this launches, many players panic buy, panic sell, and waste resources. Instead, wait for YouTubers and guides (like this one) to show the best ways to complete the update efficiently. You’ll save time, items, and come out ahead if you wait just a little bit.
The Kitchen Storm Grow a Garden update is a big deal, and preparing now will make all the difference. From grinding food to avoiding risky trades, every step you take before the update can help you progress faster when it hits. Be patient, don’t rush, and stay tuned to guides and strategies as they come out. With these 10 tips in place, you’ll be ahead of 90% of the players once the update drops.
