Big Overwatch 2 Update Coming Soon – Here’s What We Know!
Overwatch 2 fans won’t have to wait much longer for fresh news, as Blizzard is gearing up to reveal big updates in the coming weeks. The long-anticipated Nerf collaboration trailer just went live earlier this week, and the event officially started yesterday. But that’s only the beginning, because Season 18 is right around the corner, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting yet.
Season 18 will introduce a brand-new support hero, Wuyang, who uses a water-based ability kit. Blizzard plans to hold a special test event for this hero, starting in just two weeks.
Before that, on August 14, the official Wuyang trailer will drop, giving players a look at their lore, gameplay, and abilities. While past heroes have received teasers leading up to release, it’s still unclear if Blizzard will follow the same pattern this time.

The biggest reveal is expected the week after. August 20 marks the start of Gamescom 2025 in Germany, one of the largest gaming events in the world. The day before, there will be an Opening Night Live show, known for debuting new trailers and announcements.
While there’s only a small chance (around 20%) that the Season 18 trailer will appear during this show, Overwatch 2 is officially on the Gamescom Xbox livestream schedule for August 21. This means players can expect interviews with the dev team, extra details about the new season, and possibly even a major surprise announcement.
Whether the trailer appears during Opening Night or the Xbox stream, Season 18 could be a turning point for Overwatch 2. With a new hero, fresh content, and big event coverage, Blizzard seems ready to bring back both current and returning players. Fans should mark their calendars for August 14, 20, and 21, as these dates could hold the next major chapter in Overwatch 2’s future.
