How to Get the Mortis & Dave Gloves Slap Battles Guide!

The Evil Barzil update dropped a new Barzil portal and two fresh gloves: the Dave (bomb) glove and the Mortis glove. Both come from clearing the Barzil raid / boss run; each glove has unique requirements and wild abilities that change how you play. Below is a clear, step-by-step guide to reaching Barzil, beating the boss, collecting the gloves, and using their powers effectively — plus tips for hard mode and squad runs.

Getting to Barzil (how to enter)

  1. Go to Slapple (or use an alternate entry method like air/cloud/poltergeist if Slapple portal is moved).
  2. Head to the portal on top of the map and step through. The run spawns you inside Barzil.
  3. When the run starts, look for a golden beam in the sky — that marks the key spawn. Use first-person view and look up to spot it. Grab the key and head to the castle/gate area.
  4. Find the gatekeeper (white “goober” NPC) and open the gate with the key. Enter, then follow the path and complete the short obby to the elevator lobby.

Early objectives (elevator & tools)

  • Find and place a step ladder in the supply closet area to reach a hatch above the elevator.
  • Find the red screwdriver (sparkly red handle) in random spawn locations, then climb and screw in the highlighted screw to repair the elevator.
  • Take the elevator; on the next level you’ll collect a small hammer, then a sledgehammer, and later a grappler. Use these to break windows/obstacles and progress through the parkour sections.

Parkour & grappling section

  • Use the grappler to traverse rings and climb the tall stair-like structures. Hold the grappler (enter shift lock) and walk up carefully; don’t spam without control.
  • Reach the top platform to access the boss arena.

Boss fight: phase breakdown & tactics

Phase 1 — The Hands

  • Dave (or the boss entity) swings big hands. Move backward when they wind up, step forward when they pause, then jump + slap the moving finger/tip to damage.
  • Timing: slap slightly early on the jump to avoid desync. Keep moving; predictable back-and-forth strafing works well. Solo is usually easier because less lag.

Phase 2 — Nail/orb mechanics

  • Nails/orbs spawn that you must slap to damage the minibosses.
  • Beware shockwave and wrap mechanics: when a nail finishes it sends out a shockwave — jump early to avoid it. If you get wrapped, spam jump to break free.
  • Avoid low nails (they’re risky) and prioritize taller targets to reduce time and exposure.

Phase 3 — Bomb collection & bomb glove

  • Collect four bombs around the map (they spawn on the outskirts). Pick them up (E on PC / tap on mobile).
  • Plant bombs on the four inner slots and wait for detonation. After the sequence you can pick up the bomb glove from the arena center.
  • Using the bomb glove: press E to throw a bomb, and press E again to detonate manually. For range, press E then jump at the peak arc to throw it higher. Aim for under the boss’s head to deal reliable damage.

Hard mode (extra challenge)

  • To access hard mode, every squad member must have completed the boss on easy. A special portal appears to enter hard.
  • Activate hard by interacting with the cursed die on the higher area (hold E). Confirm to switch to hard.
  • Hard mode replaces your HP hearts with crystal hearts (non-regenerating). If a crystal heart breaks, it’s gone — be cautious.
  • All fight mechanics remain similar but damage and timing windows are tougher. Solo runs can be easier due to less lag; squads require coordination.

How to obtain each glove

  • Dave glove (bomb glove) — obtained from the boss run (drops after successful kill). Must own Dodecacide side badge to equip/use.
    • Mechanics: throwable bomb with manual detonate (press E), usable for ranged burst damage. Great for burst and zone control.
  • Mortis glove — also a boss reward (drop from Barzil). Must own Die Hard badge to equip/use.
    • Observed mechanics: slapping players/spawning boulders that fall on targets; an E ability that teleports or propels you toward players; an R ability that drops nails/spikes and pressing R again triggers a secondary AoE/hammer effect. Mortis can transform you into a powerful state with special immunity interactions (reports that Mortis users can’t be damaged by other Mortis hits in some cases). Use aggressively but be mindful of the cooldowns.

Note: abilities listed are based on player testing and patch observations during the update — exact wording and numbers may be tweaked by devs later.

Best loadouts & strategy tips

  • Solo clear: aim to control movement, do precise timing on slaps, and use the bomb glove from range in phase 3.
  • Squad clear: assign roles — 1 player focuses on nails, 1 on slaps, 1 on bombs, 1 on picking up keys/supplies. Communication matters.
  • Hard mode: bring conservative play — avoid unnecessary hits, kite when needed, and call bombs/detonations with teammates to avoid wasted runs.
  • Parkour tips: when using grappler, hold it out to avoid failed checks; walk up the rings instead of jumping if you’re shaky.
  • Avoid wasting health: fire and some attacks do small damage but stack — keep moving and heal when possible.

Extras — crates, codes, and event rewards

  • The update added an Evil Barzil crate with themed effects (intergalactic clouds, infernal flare, demolitionist, Zeus, etc.). You can use null shards to buy these crates.
  • A reported code (from the in-game bird chat) gives 250 null shards: type the posted code variant (the patch note said “type mortise but replace the I with an L” — enter that exact string in the code box). Codes are temporary and may expire; redeem quickly if it still works.

Evil Barzil brought two wildly fun gloves that reward skillful runs and a bit of grind. Dave’s bomb glove gives powerful ranged burst and utility, while Mortis offers high-impact melee effects and a uniquely chaotic playstyle. Run Barzil solo to learn the timings, then try squads for faster clears. Hard mode is a real test, but the rewards and gloves are worth it if you like high-skill content. Good luck — and watch those hands.
