Tower Mode ASTD All Star Tower Defense X Guide!

All Star Tower Defense X has introduced a new game mode that’s completely different from the usual gameplay. Known as Tower Mode, this mode plays more like a roguelike challenge, focusing on how far you can climb while building a team from scratch. It’s a test of strategy, resource management, and endurance – and it comes with exclusive rewards. Also check out our ASTD X Codes, and All Star Tower Defense X Tier List.

How Tower Mode Works

In Tower Mode, you cannot use your own units from your regular ASTD X roster. Instead, you’ll recruit new temporary units while progressing through the tower. These units are only usable within Tower Mode and will be lost if you die or exit the run.

Your goal is simple – climb as high as you can. Currently, the tower has 30 floors, but some players believe it might go higher. Every 10 floors, you’ll face a boss fight, which acts as a checkpoint challenge. You start with three lives. If you lose all of them, you’ll forfeit:

  • All Tower Tokens
  • All Artifacts collected
  • All recruited Tower Units

The main incentive for climbing the tower is to reach the top floor, where you can unlock the Legendary Unit Toby. Even if you don’t reach the top, the Tower Tokens you collect can be spent at the shop for various upgrades.

All Rooms in Tower Mode

  • Campfire: Lets you recruit more units, upgrade your current team, or interact with the shrine.
  • Shrine: Offers unique upgrades or bonuses for your run.
  • Shop: Spend Tower Tokens to purchase useful items and enhancements for your climb.

Tips for Success

  1. Prioritize Early Unit Strength: Since you start from scratch, focus on recruiting units that can carry you through the first 10 floors with minimal losses.
  2. Save Lives for Higher Floors: Boss fights after floor 10 can be tough; avoid unnecessary risks early on.
  3. Use Campfires Wisely: Decide whether to recruit more units for coverage or upgrade existing ones for stronger DPS.
  4. Manage Tokens Carefully: Spending too early might leave you short for key upgrades later in the run.

Tower Mode in ASTD X is a refreshing change of pace that rewards adaptability over pre-built strategies. Without your main roster, every run becomes a unique challenge, pushing you to make the best decisions with the units and resources you get. If you’re aiming for the Legendary Toby, prepare for multiple attempts – and keep refining your strategy floor by floor.
