How to Find and Open Rift Rooms in DOORS Guide
In DOORS, Rift Rooms are special hidden areas that allow you to store or transform items for use in your next run. They’re not always easy to find, and you’ll need the right tools to access them. This guide will explain what Rift Rooms are, how to locate them, and the best way to use them in your runs. Also check out the new Rift Rooms in Doors Guide!
What is a Rift Room?
A Rift Room is a rare sub-room that can appear in both the Hotel and Mines floors. At the center of this room is a Rift—an interactive portal that lets you place an item inside. Once stored, the item will reappear in a Rift during your next run, even if you switch between Hotel and Mines.
Rift Rooms can also transform certain items into rare variants. For example, a Candle, Smoothie, or Tip Jar can turn into a unique Moonlight version, unlocking the Lost in Translation achievement.
How to Find Rift Rooms

- Bring a Skeleton Key – Rift Rooms are always locked and require a Skeleton Key to enter.
- Search for Rare Doors – While exploring the Hotel or Mines, watch for uncommon, standalone locked doors that don’t match the usual room pattern.
- Check Early and Mid Floors – Rift Rooms can appear randomly, but they’re often found before the final chase sequence. After this point, the path to the Rift may be blocked.
How to Open and Use the Rift
- Unlock the Rift Room with your Skeleton Key.
- Approach the Rift and interact with it to store your chosen item.
- Items you can store include Crucifix, Skeleton Key, Shakelight, Flashlight, Starlight Jug, and more. Stackable items like lockpicks can be stored in multiples.
- In your next run, visit any Rift Room in either the Hotel or Mines to retrieve your stored item.
Why Use the Rift Room?

- Save Valuable Items – Keep rare tools like the Crucifix for future runs.
- Transform Items – Turn certain objects into rare versions and unlock unique achievements.
- Strategic Advantage – Start your next run with powerful gear already in hand.
Final Tips
- Always carry a Skeleton Key if you want a chance to access Rift Rooms.
- Prioritize storing high-value or hard-to-find items.
- If you plan to store an item, avoid triggering the final chase sequence too soon.
Rift Rooms may be hidden, but they can completely change how you approach DOORS. Whether you’re saving a Crucifix for a tough run, experimenting with item transformations, or just preparing for the unexpected, these rooms give you a clear advantage. Keep an eye out, bring your Skeleton Key, and you’ll be ready to make the most of every opportunity that appears behind those mysterious locked doors.
