How to Catch 30 Sharks in 99 Nights in the Forest Badges Guide
Catching 30 sharks in 99 Nights in the Forest is one of the trickiest badges added in the fishing update. Unlike other challenges, this one isn’t just about skill—it also needs preparation, strategy, and a little bit of luck. If you want to save time and finish this badge without wasting days of grinding, here’s the easiest method you can follow.
Why the Shark Badge Is Hard
Most badges in the game can be finished in 10–15 minutes and reward you with diamonds quickly. But shark hunting is different because:
- Fishing requires luck—you might catch a shark, or you might pull up an old shoe.
- The later nights get harder with lightning, blizzards, and stronger enemies.
- The fisherman class is almost essential, since other classes make the grind much slower.
Step 1 – Pick the Right Class
The Fisherman Class is the best choice. Even though it costs 50 diamonds to unlock, it makes the challenge far easier:
- Faster fishing rod upgrades.
- Passive skills to reel in fish more efficiently.
- At max level, catching 30 fish (including sharks) becomes much quicker.
Without this class, expect a much longer grind.
Step 2 – Build a Safe Camp

Fishing takes time, so you’ll need a safe base. Here’s the setup:
- Level up your campfire first, not your crafting bench. Scavenge barrels and fuel cans around the edges of the map to quickly reach level 5.
- Find a backpack early (from chests or trading with the rabbit-foot merchant on day two).
- Set up essentials: Map near deer spawn points. Crockpots, fridge, and soup pot close together so food drops neatly in place. Oil drill lined up with the campfire (to drop fuel directly). Teleporter inside your base for quick escapes.
- Seal your camp with walls so cultists and monsters can’t ambush you.
This setup lets you focus on fishing without worrying about constant attacks.
Step 3 – Fishing the Right Spot
Now it’s time to hunt sharks:
- Head to the Bone Lake on the outer edge of the map.
- Set up a second teleporter in the middle of the lake before casting your line. This makes escaping easy if enemies attack.
- Only this lake contains sharks, boots, and the trident, so it’s the best spot to farm.
Level up your fishing rod to reduce failed catches—sharks are much harder to reel in than normal fish.
Step 4 – Survive the Nights While Fishing
- Owls won’t attack if you stay still.
- Wolves can sneak up; either fight them off or teleport back home.
- Deer are dangerous, but again, teleporting is the safest escape.
- During the day, you can safely grind without too many interruptions.
Step 5 – Play with Friends for Speed
While solo fishing works fine, playing with friends makes the challenge faster and safer. Multiple players can farm sharks at once and share survival tasks like defending camp or gathering resources.
So, Always keep your fridge and soup pot close to your fishing spot to save time. Upgrade your campfire early—it helps more than weapons in the beginning. Use teleporters smartly. They’re lifesavers when enemies get too aggressive.
The shark badge may seem overwhelming, but with the fisherman class, a safe camp, and the Bone Lake strategy, you can complete it without endless grinding. With just a few focused hours, you’ll reel in all 30 sharks and secure those diamonds before the event ends in 99 Nights in the Forest.
