For players of Archived, one of the most sought-after features is Shin and Mang, especially because progressing it can feel long and tedious. This guide will walk you through how to obtain Mang, how to activate it, and the full progression path to unlock all five Mang rings. If you’ve been unsure how the system works, this is the only guide you’ll need. Check out our Archived Traveling pawner guide, and Boss location for more info.
How to Get the Fixer’s Note
The first step to obtaining Mang is acquiring a Fixer’s Note. You can get this from the Overconfident Fixer, who usually spawns around 20 minutes into a fresh server.
Sometimes, if you’re lucky, he’ll appear right when you log in. Another way to get the Fixer’s Note is through the Traveling Corner, which appears in various locations, including behind Sentenza.
Important tip: once you get the Fixer’s Note, use it immediately. If you die before using it, the item will be lost and you’ll have to hunt for it again. However, if you’ve already used it, your progress will stay safe even if you die.
How to Activate Mang
There are two main ways to activate Mang:
- Watching a Teammate Die The easiest and most reliable way is by watching one of your teammates die. Doing this in a PD (Private Dungeon) guarantees a 100% chance. To avoid risking a friend’s main slot, they can create a fresh one just for this process and still help you progress.
- Bell Check Method Another method is to let a friend lower your HP to 50% or 25%. The chance of unlocking Mang depends on whether you’re in Permadeath or non-Permadeath. In Permadeath, it’s nearly a guaranteed success, making it the recommended approach.
How to Progress and Level Up Mang
After unlocking your first Mang ring, the next step is progression. Here’s how you can level it up:
- Quests: Completing a quest gives you +10 levels. These can include tasks like the cooking quest or the barber quest. Keep in mind you cannot wipe during progression. Dying is fine, but wiping resets progress.
- Dungeons: Each dungeon completed adds +1 level, except for the Imperitas (Max Library) dungeon, which gives +5 levels.
- Max Level: The maximum level is 200, which grants you the full set of five Mang rings.
According to recent news, the developers are preparing a new update that will make it easier for players to check their Shin level directly, instead of guessing their progress. Progressing Mang in Archived may take time, but with the right approach, it’s not as overwhelming as it seems.
Focus on quests for the biggest level boosts and use dungeons to steadily fill the gaps. Once you hit level 200, you’ll unlock all five Mang rings and reach the full potential of your progression. Have you tried farming Mang yet? Or do you have your own tricks to speed up the grind?
