Genshin Impact’s New Level 100 Feature is Not Free to Play Friendly

Genshin Impact recently introduced a new system that lets players raise their five-star characters all the way to level 100. At first, this sounds like an exciting feature. But once the details came out, many players quickly realized it could be a nightmare, especially for free-to-play (F2P) players.

To push a character from level 90 to 95, players need a special item called Masterless Stella Fortuna. Then, to reach level 100, you need two more of the same item. In total, that means three Stella Fortuna are required just for one character.

The real problem lies in how this item is obtained. You can only get Stella Fortuna by pulling duplicates of a character that has already reached C6. For those unfamiliar, C6 means a character has been pulled seven times in total. This makes the item extremely rare and nearly impossible for casual or F2P players to acquire.

This new system has raised concerns in the community. If miHoYo decides to design future endgame content around level 100 characters, then anyone stuck at level 90 may struggle. In the worst-case scenario, only “whales” — players who spend large amounts of money on gacha — would be able to fully enjoy the hardest content.

Meanwhile, F2P players could feel left out and unable to experience the same content, widening the gap between paying and non-paying players.

Whether this change turns into a major problem or remains an optional upgrade is still uncertain. But one thing is clear: many players are already worried about what this means for the future of Genshin Impact.
