The latest update in Grow a Garden Roblox has left the community split, with many players angry about the new Ascension (Rebirth) system. Instead of fixing old issues, this feature has sparked more frustration—especially among casual and veteran players alike. Also check out our Grow a Garden Codes and Grow a Garden Animals Tier List.
The Problem That Started It All
Before the update, the game’s economy was already broken because of the Nihonzaru bug. This bug caused huge inflation, making pets cost absurd amounts—reaching quintillions and even sextillions of shekels.
Players who abused the bug became extremely rich, while normal players had no chance of keeping up. Some rich players even gave away trillions of shekels, which helped a little but didn’t fix the core issue: the game’s economy was destroyed.
The New Ascension System
To deal with the chaos, developers introduced Ascension. By ascending, players reset all their shekels and in return receive 10 Garden Coins. To qualify, you need at least 1 trillion shekels and specific mutated plants. On paper, this sounds fair. But in reality, it wipes out everything—even if you have more than the threshold, the extra shekels are gone.
Making things worse, shekel trading is now disabled, meaning the currency has no real use for trading pets. The only value left is grinding for Garden Coins, and that comes with strict limits.
With a 24-hour cooldown, players can only earn 10 coins per day. Considering shop upgrades cost between 20 and 100 coins each, clearing the store takes over 40 days of grinding—assuming you can even hit the requirement every day.
Why Players Are Angry
For veteran players, this feels unfair. Many spent months grinding and trading shekels only to see their hard work wiped out for minimal rewards. Casual and new players have it even worse—hitting the trillion-shekel mark without strong pets like raccoons, kitsune, or moon cats is nearly impossible.
Community reactions on Discord show just how unhappy players are. Many suggest that the system should scale with how much you reset, or that rewards should be higher to match the sacrifice. Others even argue that trading should have been fixed, not removed completely.
The Ascension update had good intentions, but most agree it missed the mark. Instead of balancing the economy, it punished both new and old players while rewarding only those with top-tier pets.
If the developers want to rebuild trust, they’ll need to rethink the system and provide fairer rewards. What do you think about this update? Was Ascension the right move, or should the devs have tried something else in Grow a Garden?
