What Are Shadows in Anime Eternal?
Shadows are special fighters that drop exclusively from SS Rank Secret Bosses starting from World 6 and onward. Unlike Avatars (which you can only claim once), Shadows can be farmed repeatedly and even upgraded.
Currently, there are two types of Shadows in the game:
- DPS Shadows – Boost your overall damage output.
- Energy Shadows – Increase your energy gain, making it easier to progress through maps.
Both are extremely useful, and building the right balance will make a huge difference as you climb higher worlds.
Where to Find SS Secret Bosses + Location
Shadows only drop from Rank SS Bosses starting at World 6. Not every NPC will drop them, so don’t waste time farming regular mobs. Each world from 6 to 20 has at least one SS Boss that gives either a DPS or Energy Shadow. They alternate per world: one boss gives DPS, the next one gives Energy.

How to Drop and Upgrade Shadows
- Defeat SS Rank Bosses – They have a high chance to drop Shadows when defeated.
- Check Your Index – Shadows you collect are listed here, and you can delete weaker ones if you want to keep only rarer versions.
- Use Shadow Souls – These are special items for upgrading Shadows, obtainable after World 6.
- Shadow Machines – Two machines currently exist: Shadow Leveling Machine – Upgrades Shadow levels. Shadow Upgrade Machine – Improves their stats and equips more.
- Extra Shadow Slots – You can unlock an additional Shadow equip slot using Credits (premium currency), which makes farming more efficient.
Tips for Farming Shadows
- Focus on Energy first: Energy scaling helps you progress through worlds faster, unlocking better drops.
