Elpis: Fallen Star is a semi-RTS RPG where you command an exploration squad to battle the Demon King and survive in a corrupted world. If you’re just starting, the game can feel overwhelming with all its systems and mechanics.

This beginner’s guide will walk you through the basics of gameplay, progression, and team building to make your first steps much smoother. Check out our Elpis: Fallen Star Codes and Tier List for new players!

1. Understanding the Core Gameplay

Elpis mixes real-time strategy with RPG mechanics. You lead up to 8 characters into battle, plan before fights, and give orders mid-combat. Every unit belongs to one of four classes:

  • Ironclad – Tanks that absorb damage.
  • Voidblade – Warriors and melee fighters.
  • Spellweaver – Mages and healers.
  • Ghosthunter – Ranged archers and snipers.

During fights, each class contributes unique skills, and in the Total Assault phase, your squad combines abilities for devastating attacks. Learning how these classes work together is the key to success.

2. Early Progression Tips

  1. Push the main story first – this unlocks features, raises your level cap, and provides resources.
  2. Claim all freebies – check your mailbox and event page often for pre-registration rewards and codes.
  3. Level a core team of 8 units – balance between DPS, tanks, healers, and supports.
  4. Don’t over-invest in low-rarity characters – focus on units that will stay relevant in the long run.

3. Resource & Upgrade Priorities

Managing resources wisely will save you trouble later. Follow this upgrade order:

  • Character Levels > Skills > Badges
  • Prioritize DPS > Tanks > Healers > Supports

Focus on raising your main team to 3-star breakthrough (level 90) before spending heavily on badges or pushing into expensive 4-star breakthroughs.

4. Team Composition Basics

A standard and reliable setup is:

  • 2 Ironclad (Tanks)
  • 1 Voidblade (Warrior)
  • 3 Spellweaver (2 healers + 1 mage, or 1 healer + 2 mages)
  • 2 Ghosthunter (Archers)

An alternative is 2 Ironclad + 2 Voidblade + 2 Spellweaver + 2 Ghosthunter if you prefer a more balanced frontline.

5. Positioning & Auto-Battle AI

In auto-battle, the AI prioritizes skills from right to left, top to bottom. This means where you place your characters matters. Adjust formation to control which ultimates trigger first and which enemies your squad focuses on.

6. Skill Cooldowns & Rotations

Each unit has an ultimate skill with either a 20s or 45s cooldown. Smooth rotations are crucial, so make sure at least one DPS or Voidblade has a 20s ultimate. Poor rotations can cause big damage gaps in battles.

7. Things to Avoid Early On

  • Don’t waste stamina on badges too soon – level your characters first.
  • Avoid upgrading weak badges (2★) – save for event or higher-tier badges.
  • Don’t overspend premium currency on stamina – use it for summons instead.
  • Don’t stress over “perfect” comps – just build around your strongest characters.

Elpis: Fallen Star rewards good planning, but it’s also a game about experimenting with squads and strategies. Focus on pushing story progression, strengthening your main team, and learning how different classes synergize. With these beginner tips, you’ll have a solid foundation to take on harder content and enjoy the journey through the abyss.
