Hades II Keepsake Guide and Tier List
Keepsakes in Hades are special items that Zagreus can equip to gain different buffs during escape attempts. They are obtained by gifting Nectar to characters for the first time. Once unlocked, you can equip them from the display case in the Courtyard before a run.
How to Unlock Keepsakes
Unlocking keepsakes is simple:
-
Find a character (god, ally, or NPC).
-
Gift them Nectar for the first time.
-
They will reward you with a keepsake that reflects their role or personality.
Some special keepsakes, known as Companions (Legendary Keepsakes), require more effort. To unlock these, you must:
-
Build a deeper bond with the character (usually by giving more Nectar).
-
Complete their personal quest.
-
Gift them Ambrosia after the quest is done.
Once unlocked, keepsakes can be ranked up by using them in encounters.
Important Notes About Keepsakes
- Once a keepsake is equipped and the run starts, you can only switch it between regions (after a boss).
- To swap between regions, you need to unlock the Keepsake Collection, Regional upgrade from the House Contractor for 10 Gemstones.
- If you close the display case mid-swap, you’ll be locked out until the next post-boss room.
- If you remove a keepsake mid-run, you cannot re-equip it again during that attempt.
Keepsakes rank up with use:
- Rank 2: After 25 encounters
- Rank 3: After 50 encounters

Keepsake Tier List
S-Tier (Best Keepsakes)
- Lucky Tooth (Skelly): A free revive—works like an extra Death Defiance.
- Old Spiked Collar (Cerberus): Reliable max HP boost, great for all runs.
- Evergreen Acorn (Eurydice): Boss protection, extremely useful in late-game.
- Cosmic Egg (Chaos): Free Chaos Gates + higher rarity = stronger builds.
- Pom Blossom (Persephone): Free, automatic scaling every few rooms.
A-Tier (Very Strong, Situational)
- Pierced Butterfly (Thanatos): Damage scaling if you’re confident at avoiding hits.
- Broken Spearpoint (Patroclus): Short invulnerability window, great for survival.
- Black Shawl (Nyx): High burst damage if you can backstab effectively.
- Chthonic Coin Purse (Hypnos): Solid for early-shop rush strategies.
B-Tier (Good, but Niche Use)
- Skull Earring (Megaera): Strong damage when low HP, risky to rely on.
- Distant Memory (Orpheus): Good for ranged builds only.
- Harpy Feather Duster (Dusa): Healing from urns can be clutch but unreliable.
- Myrmidon Bracer (Achilles): Defensive, but positioning requirement makes it tricky.
C-Tier (Situational / Weakest)
- Bone Hourglass (Charon): Only useful if you rely heavily on Well items.
- Shattered Shackle (Sisyphus): Strong only before you start stacking boons.
- Sigil of the Dead (Hades): Fun, but limited and locked until post-story.
Keepsakes play a massive role in shaping your Hades runs. While every keepsake has its niche, some stand out as must-haves for consistency and survivability. For beginners, Lucky Tooth and Old Spiked Collar are lifesavers.
For experienced players, Cosmic Egg, Pom Blossom, and Evergreen Acorn open the door to strong builds and late-game success. Overall, if you had to pick just one keepsake to top the tier list, Lucky Tooth is the safest and most universally powerful option.
