The latest Prospecting Roblox update has just dropped, and the biggest addition this time is the introduction of Runes. These mysterious items add a new layer of progression and strategy to the game, giving players special boosts that can change how they dig, craft, and explore. Here’s a full guide on everything you need to know about runes — how to find them, how to use them, and what else is new in this update.

How to Get Runes in Prospecting

Runes are now scattered across the map, waiting to be discovered. You can find them randomly while exploring, or earn them as rewards from completing certain quests. They aren’t guaranteed spawns, so keep an eye out while mining or traveling through different areas. For the best chance to find runes:

  1. Explore high-activity zones where events often take place.
  2. Complete available quests, as some may now drop runes upon completion.
  3. Check areas after admin events — sometimes, extra runes appear temporarily during these boosts.

The developer has confirmed that more rune types will be added in future updates, each offering different effects and bonuses. So even if you haven’t found many yet, there’s more to look forward to.

How to Use Runes

Before diving into locations, open your Prospecting Kit > Equipment > Runes tab. You’ll see up to four rune slots (and a fifth unlocked at level 40). Each rune grants different bonuses like speed, critical chance, or luck depending on when and where you play.

The Purity Rune is the first one most players unlock by completing the Seed of Light quest from the Botanist. It gives you a 1x luck multiplier but disables item modifiers.

All Rune Locations in Prospecting

1. Rubble Creek – Speed Rune

Behind the large rock near the statue. Grants +2 Walk Speed, perfect for faster movement while mining.

2. Crystal Caverns – Sun Blessed Rune

Hidden behind the waterfall in the “Waterfall Temple.” Grants +20% Luck in sunlight, great for daytime grinding.

3. Sunset Beach – Critical I Rune

Located behind the merchant’s hut. Grants a 20% chance to gain 2x digging strength.

4. Fortune River Delta (Old Prospector’s House) – Equalizer Rune

Inside the prospector’s house. Balances your dig speed and shake speed to their average values.

5. Fortune River Delta (Cliffside) – Explorer Rune

Found on a rock near the house. Grants a 20% chance to collect an extra geode, very useful during geode showers.

6. Calira Island (Ranger’s House) – Critical II Rune

On the bed inside the ranger’s house. Similar to Critical I but can stack for a higher chance of double strength.

7. Calira Island (Volcano Peak) – Volcanic Rune

At the top of the volcano. Boosts Scorch modifier size by 25%.

8. Windsweet Beach (Near Lighthouse Rocks) – Solitude Rune

Beside the rocks near the lighthouse. Gives +20% Luck but -10% Luck per nearby player within 50 studs — best for private servers.

9. Windsweet Lighthouse (Ancient Ruins) – Discovery Rune

Inside the lighthouse maze near the lava wall. Increases chance to find undiscovered ores by 50%.

10. Frozen Peak – Summit Seeker Rune

Right beside the waypoint. Grants +5% Dig and Shake Speed for every +1 Walk Speed bonus.

11. Snowy Shores – Mountain Climber Rune

Past the bridge and down the slope. Adds +3 Walk Speed, which stacks perfectly with Speed and Summit Seeker runes.

12. Abyssal Depths – Night Rune

Located near the pen area inside the maze (requires unlocking the maze). Grants +20% Luck at night, perfect for meteor showers.

The Rune Update in Prospecting Roblox isn’t just a small patch — it’s a step toward deeper progression and more interactive exploration. With the ability to hunt and use runes for powerful temporary boosts, every dig now feels more rewarding. Add in the quality-of-life updates like crafting pins and daily bonuses, and this update makes Prospecting one of the most polished mining games on Roblox right now. If you haven’t logged in recently, now’s the perfect time to jump back in, hunt for your first rune, and prepare for even more content in future updates.
