How to Obtain the Rune in Epic Minigames
Start by talking to Steve, the green NPC wearing a tuxedo in the lobby. He will give you a quest to find a recipe that contains the ingredients needed to assemble the Rune in the cauldron.
The recipe can appear randomly in any minigame. Look for a rolled-up golden paper on the field — this shows the three items you need to collect:
- Brown Mushroom Cluster
- Red Poisonous Mushroom
- Yellow Flowers
Some minigames have a higher chance of dropping these items, but you can pay 9 Robux to pick a specific minigame if you want faster farming. Otherwise, keep playing until all three items appear — they usually glow gold and are easy to spot mid-game.
Once you have all three ingredients, return to Steve in the lobby and use the cauldron to assemble the Rune. Make sure to check the correct order in your ingredient list, as some players have reported occasional ordering bugs. Congratulations — once assembled, you have your Rune and can now focus on getting the Key.
How to Obtain the Key in Epic Minigames
To earn the Key, you need to complete three separate quests from NPCs in the lobby. You can do them all at the same time since the NPCs are close together. For easier completion, go to Settings and disable automatic game joining, so you won’t get dragged into a minigame while completing objectives.
Here’s where to find each NPC:
- The Werewolf – Up the stairs, far left
- Mr. Monster – Mid-staircase, near the dice decoration
- Count Tenance – Up the stairs, far right
1. Werewolf Quest
The Werewolf quest is the simplest. He asks you to banish ghosts in the lobby. First, buy the Soul Lantern from the shop for 100 tokens. Equip it from your backpack, then approach the green ghosts that appear and click on them to collect candy.
2. Mr. Monster Quest
Talk to Mr. Monster, the Frankenstein NPC with cool glasses. You’ll need to find the Trafigurator Gun, which spawns randomly in minigames and glows gold. Equip the gun and return to Mr. Monster, then complete the next task by shooting three crystallized trick-or-treat buckets in any minigame to earn candy.
3. Count Tenance Quest
The Count Tenance quest is the most challenging. He asks you to locate three spider eggs in the lobby:
- Behind the bench and boxes in the spawn square
- Up the right staircase in the Coin Obby area, on the left
- Behind crates near the middle house across the river
After collecting all three eggs, Count Tenance will let you attempt the Monster Melee minigame for free. The objective is to defeat the spider boss Venarak while dodging smaller spiders that hatch from the red eggs.
- Tip: You can focus on either Venarak or split your team to handle both him and the hatchlings.
- Venarak occasionally uses a strong attack — hide behind falling rocks for cover.
If you fail, you can retry by finding the eggs again in any minigame. Only completing this step while on Count Tenance’s quest counts toward your Key.
Claiming Your Key
After finishing all three NPC quests, return to Steve to receive the Epic Minigames Key. With both the Rune and Key in hand, you’re ready to unlock the Halloween Spotlight items.
