The latest update in Jump Showdown added a new feature inside private servers called the Skill Builder. This system lets you create custom moves, adjust effects, tweak damage, add animations, and test your own combat ideas.

It works similar to tools seen in other Roblox battleground games, giving players freedom to create and experiment. This guide will walk you through how to access the Skill Builder, what each menu does, and how to start building your first skill. Also check out our How to Get Chara Jump Showdown Roblox Guide!

How to Open Skill Builder

To begin, make sure you are inside a private server. After you load in:

  1. Open the command panel.
  2. Toggle Build Mode and enable it.
  3. Once Build Mode is active, press the keyframe icon.
  4. Your screen will now show the Skill Builder menu.

When you enter for the first time, you will see an empty layout. This is normal. Press the plus [+] button to create a new skill slot.

Skill Menu Options

After creating a skill slot, you will see four main functions:

  • Obtain Skill: Adds the skill to your moveset for testing.
  • Edit Skill: Opens the full skill editor.
  • Export Skill: Saves skills for sharing or backup.
  • Delete: Removes the selected skill.

Most of the work will happen inside Edit Skill.

Understanding the Timeline System

Inside the editor, the timeline is the main area. Here, you can add different “blocks” that define how your move behaves. Some key categories include:

  • Wait: Delay before the next action.
  • Skill: The actual attack and damage box.
  • Animation: Visual movement of your character.
  • Velocity: Pushes your character in a direction.
  • Sound: Adds sound effects.
  • Effect: Visual effects such as damage flashes or blocks.
  • Camera Shake: Adds impact to strong hits.
  • Awakening: Increases your awakening meter.
  • Cooldown: Adds a cooldown after the move.
  • Health: Adds healing.

You can press each category to see short explanations if you need clarity.

Editing Your First Skill

Start by pressing Skill, then choose any attack from the list. For example: Palm Strike. When editing, you can adjust:

  • Attack speed
  • Damage multiplier
  • Knockback strength
  • Hitbox size
  • Hitbox direction

This lets you control how strong or fast the attack should be. Next, you can choose to turn on Animation. If you disable animation, no visuals will play, so adding manual animations is important. You can also control whether the skill:

  • Cancels previous moves
  • Can be canceled by damage
  • Triggers variants
  • Works as a finisher

Adding Visual Effects (VFX)

The Effect tab is one of the best features. Here you can add:

  • Damage sparks
  • Healing visuals
  • Teleport flashes
  • Block effects
  • Extra hit visuals

You can preview how these look by right-clicking the icons.

Extra Options

Some additional blocks you may want to try:

  • Camera Shake: Add impact to heavy hits.
  • Add Awakening: Fills your awakening gauge.
  • Add Cooldown: Prevents move spam.
  • Add Health: Gives healing when the skill lands.

These features give players customization over pacing, power, and control.

Skill Properties

On the right side, you can edit:

  • Skill name
  • Cooldown duration
  • Speed multiplier
  • Damage multiplier
  • UI reset
  • Behavior during awakening
  • Auto-remove on moveset switch

Once satisfied, press Save Skill.

Testing Your Skill

After saving:

  1. Press Obtain Skill to add it to your bar.
  2. Exit the build screen.
  3. Use the skill to see the result.

If something feels off, return to editing and adjust timing, hitboxes, or effects.

Tips for Beginners

  • Start simple: one hit and a basic animation.
  • Add visuals later once you understand timing.
  • Use short wait times to chain multiple hits.
  • Always test after small adjustments.
  • Try different hitbox offsets to place damage correctly.

As you practice, the system becomes easier to control.

The Skill Builder in Jump Showdown opens new possibilities for custom combat moves inside private servers. While the menus look overwhelming at first, building step-by-step makes learning smoother. Keep adjusting damage, timing, and visuals until you find a style you enjoy. More updates may expand this system further, so expect new features over time. Keep testing, keep improving, and experiment with different setups to shape your perfect move.
