There are five main classes in the game, each with two subclasses that can be unlocked through specific events during your journey. This guide will walk you through all classes, their subclasses, and which ones are currently the best to use in An Average Campaign.
How to Choose and Unlock Classes
To select your class, interact with the Magic Mirror and open the Customize Character menu. From here, you can choose between five main classes:
- Warrior
- Rogue
- Mage
- Priest
- Brawler
Each of these classes has two subclasses, unlocked by encountering special events during runs. Typically, one subclass can be found in the Forest area, while the other is in the Dungeon area.

1. Warrior – The Frontline Defender

- Overpowering Slash – STR-scaling move that deals Physical damage and stuns the target.

Knight – Found in the Dungeon through the Knight’s Caravan event.

2. Rogue – The Critical Hit Expert
The Rogue is a fast melee class focused on critical hits, bleed effects, and high single-target burst. Scales with Dexterity (DEX) and Luck (LCK).
Assassin – Found in the Forest through the Strange Man event.
- Backstab – Deals damage and applies Bleed.
- Knife Throw – DEX-scaling ranged attack that inflicts Bleed.
- Vicious Attack – DEX and LCK scaling, adds Bleed stacks.
Drifter – Found in the Dungeon through the Lone Drifter event.
- Lay Them Low – Triple-hit attack that can apply Toxin.
- High Noon – Debuff that increases enemy crit vulnerability and grants bonus gold on kill.
- Pocket Sand – Blinds enemies.
- Scattershot – Multi-target attack with Toxin chance.

3. Mage – The Powerful Spellcaster
The Mage class specializes in high burst magic attacks and self-buffing, but requires careful energy management. Scales with Intelligence (INT) and Luck (LCK).
Bloodkin Warlock – Found in the Forest via An Upsidedown Individual event.
- Focuses on dark and lifesteal-based magic.
Necromancer – Found in the Dungeon through the Necromancer event.

Elementalist – Found in the Forest via A Meditative Man event.
- Way of Water, Way of Fire, Way of Wind, Way of Earth – Element-based attacks and buffs.
Beast – Found in the Dungeon through the Beast event.
- Wild Swipes – Multi-hit melee combo.
- Wolf Steps – Increases agility and movement.
